Great camera so far. Have used it for a few days and am learning more about it everyday. I will write another review in the future as I use it more. It is Heavy conpared to the Rebel XT I was using. But I knew that going in and you should too. I'm sure I will get use to it.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

I am 54 years old and I have been using film SLRs since I was 15 years old, I started with a Petri and went on to using Nikons because they had the durability edge on Canon back then. I switched to Canon in the 1980s since they were now the brand to recon with, I later went on to Canon digitals in the 1990s, I started with the G series and once I learned digital I switched back to SLRs. I owned the 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D and now the 50D. I like canons because of the reliability factor, ease of use, light weight, excellent picture quality from the cheapest ones to the most expensive. When I travel I like to carry all of my gears - Sony VIO SZ-370 Lap top with external drive, Canon G7, Canon VIXIA HF-10 HD camcorder, Canon 50D, EFS-17-55, EF-70-200 F4 IS. I always come home with my vacation on video or stills with no problems. Does not matter what model Canon you choose, they all produce excellent picture or video quality.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Short battery life

I purchsed this camera to go to NASCAR races and needed a DSLR that could handle the race speeds. It did extremely well in everything I needed it to do. Races were afternoon and evening and I found that the photos at night were extremely good even with high ISOs. I believe a key feature not discussed much by reviewers is the cameras microadjustment feature for each lens used. The adjustments made a world of difference compared with the default settings.

I have used this camera for about 5 months now and I am impressed. I got it to replace my 40D and I started with the original Digital Rebel (6MP) and progressed through the Rebel line to the XTi and then the 40D. They were all great cameras. I have a background in photography beginning in 1973 with SLRs. I have done weddings with every one of them. This 50D was so easy to use and I did not even have to use a flash. I have noticed the 7D also. Maybe that will be my next extra camera.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: none

I've been shooting since childhood. 1st Canon I have ever owned - 3rd digital. Gives me what I require, and my family loves using it. I'm in a wheelchair, so the only con is getting low or high angles which can be a pain, but my wife understands my directions, and with the provided software, I am able to correct any mistakes. This is a very forgiving camera - youth take very nice pictures with it, and the quality passes inspection from the 2 pro photographers I know. Buy now!!!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, Solid Operation, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
