How can this camera be rated less than A 5, for the money this is one bad dude it will do it all! Sorry for those who dont like the camera for whatever reason I cannot find any Flaw yes its better than some (30d 20d rebel and so on) and not much better than the 40d to some, To me This 50D Is one awesome piece of work and if you do not have a Computer to handle this product then You better get ready to upgrade! Nice work Canon!!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, fast

50D Marginal at best

I have not been pleased with the performance of my 50D. I will admit to beautiful files in daylight but lower light situations like stadium lights or gyms this camera totally fails. I have never returned a camera but I did return the first 50D I bought since the files at 1000ISO were horrible. The replacement camera is only a little better. I will bring out my old 20D before I would use the 50D in these situations. I bought it as a backup for a MarkII and am seriously considering getting rid of it as I can not count on it in some basic situatiions to produce quality images.
Pros: Simple controls/menu, easy to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best Camera for the Price

This camera has Excellent Quality images. I am a professional commercial photographer. The Images have good details and very sharp. I took a picture of a can food for one of my jobs. I saw the fine dots on the color print on the can. The Quality is very close as shooting 35mm film camer. I almost can not see any different from the professional 35mm film camer and the 50D.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life

Best Bang for the Buck

This is worth every penny! I upgraded from an XTi and you can immediately see a large improvement in build quality as well as picture quality. The controls are well laid out and numerous in ability. Use UDMA flash card only, otherwise you will be hampered by slow performance. With the appropriate card, it is very zippy. I was so happy with this product, I am considering purchasing a second and getting rid of the XTi altogether.

This camera has endless possibilities. After falling in love with a 70's era FTb SLR I never thought I would find a camera that can take the same quality photos and be as easy to use as the manual cameras. With this camera I can accomplish that and more yet not be limited by the standard problems a digital point and shoot has.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: steep learning curve for new users
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was very impressed with the quality of this camera. I started out using Canon, later switched to other brands, but I have to say that Canon offers the very best on the market.
