From someone expanding into the Photography field, this camera has exceeded all of my expectations! From fantastic supportability from included documentation to all of the software needed to get one started into a true "field of dreams". Great quality and just about anything done with this camera is of amazing quality. A great starting camera for anyone wanting to get into DSLR and wanting to start with quality. Practice does not make it perfect; PERFECT Practice makes it perfect, and this camera will get anyone well on their way to fantastic perfecttion.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Easy to use. Setup and menu screens are great. an advantage over my 40D. I do get some noise in the higher ISO's. Other than that I am very pleased with the camera.
Pros: Superior build quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: noisy

Only one thing needed

I love this body, especially mated to a 24-70 f/2.8 or 70-200 mm IS f/2.8. I’m glad it doesn’t do USB charging (just imagine when the power supply on your computer goes if this was plugged in), I don’t need HD video, more megapixels isn’t desired and I have little interest in GPS.
The ONLY thing I would change on this body is to make it a full frame sensor at the same price point.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am in love with this camera. The quality of Color, the wireless connection to my computer, the Super High ISO, it is impossible for me to take a bad picture. Far exceeded my expectations. My Friend has a 5D and was supposed to get a new camera that costs 4k and now is thinking about just getting the 50D.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, high iso setting, wireless sync
Cons: Difficult to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

My Fifth Canon
on February 14, 2009

This is my FIFTH Canon. I have owned a EOS 650, Elan 7E, Rebel XS, Rebel G, D60, 40D and now a 50D. I opted for the kit that included the new EFS 18-200mm IS lens. I love this camera more than any other. The weight and balance with the lens that I selected are much more comfortable and easier to handle than the 28-135 IS USM lens that I have had for a number of years.
Pros: Simple controls/menu, quiet, Quick Start-up time, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings
I would recommend this to a friend!

I upgraded to 50D from 40D, one of the features that I value to most is the micro-adjustment. I can calibrate the lens my-self insead of sending it Canon, Irvine. Another feature I love dearly is the crop-ability of the image. I have some pictures cropped 80% out and still able to print to a decent size.
You will be happy with this camera!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, micro-adjustment, crop-ability
