Intermittent popping; groaning/grinding noises...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this a replacement for a 30-year old GE fridge (which has been used in garage as spare for past 15 years...which still worked fine; however, age-related noises and required maintenance to repair back to "new" were not worth the time, effort or $$). This unit is a welcome replacement other than the initially-stated characteristics.

P_J_B, thank you for sharing your refrigerator experience with us. Some of the sounds you’ve been hearing are part of your appliance’s normal function. For example the popping sound you are hearing may be coming from the defrost heater. During defrost cycles, water dripping onto the defrost heater may cause a hissing or sizzling sound. After defrosting, a popping sound may occur. Page 18 of your Owner’s Manual addresses the normal sights and sounds your refrigerator may demonstrate. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good purchase for the price. Only complaint up to this point is that the freezer does not seem to get as cold as it should even on the coldest setting. Very basic frig with a fair price.

Tom Thumb, thank you for sharing your refrigerator review with us. I have some questions for the matter of your freezer not being cold enough. Is the freezer located where the ambient temperature is below 55°F? If the refrigerator is in a garage or other area where the temperature is below 55° F, you may experience freezer temperature problems. The Garage Kit (P/N 5303918301) will lower the minimum operating temperature of the refrigerator to 34° F. A qualified service technician will need to install the kit. If this is not applicable, please do a visual check of the freezer gasket (pages 8-9 of your Owner’s Manual) to ensure you have a good seal. If this hasn’t helped, or you have any questions, please reconnect with us directly for assistance. Please call our Customer Engagement Center at 877-435-3287 for assistance. good solid refrigerator
