Canon makes great cameras

After having anothercanon digital camera- I spotted this one-a little smaller than my SD750IS-My SD750Is takes great pictures in the dark w/o a flash- so I wanted this one for other times. This camera takes great pictures- the screen is larger for those of us that are blind and I find just as easy to use. I am a little dissatified on the recharge of the flash, but I will have to get used to. I use nothing but Kodak rechargable batteries in all my cameras and they seem to have the longest life span. Sometime the name does make a difference. For those looking to buy a nice digital camera- this may be the one. And the fact that you can take pictures on a moving boat and have them look like you are standing still.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, durable
Cons: Short battery life

great videos in low light

I am still learning everything this camera has. I bought it mostly to use at concerts and was very satisfied with it.The video quality was excellent in low light at the concert and the sound did not have too much noise. Much less noise than other cameras. I switched between the night and indoor settings for really good pics. I did get some blurry shots when there was a lot of movement, but that is probably with any camera. It does take a little long in between shots. I used regular AA bateries, which did not last long.

Fantastic Camera!!!

I am SO impressed by this camera. Have not had issues with battery life; I use rechargeables and keep 4 in the charger and 2 in the camera.
The 10x zoom (plus up to 40x digital) is an amazing feature for a small camera. My photography has improved incredibly, especially since I started shooting on Manual instead of Auto (which tends to overexpose a tad).
My only nit to pick might be how long the flash takes to recharge after taking a picture.
If you are looking for the next step up from a point-and-shoot that will give you really professional results, buy this camera. Now. It takes great videos too!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, great zoom and macro

good camera for the price

I looked at a lot of reviews before buying this camera. Overall, this camera did not disappoint. For its price, this camera performs very well. What surprised me the most was the video quality of this little camera. I don't think I have to buy a video camera now!!! This camera does the job!!!
Some problems:
- the camera isn't necessarily heavy or bulky. In fact, I think the weight makes the camera easy to handle. However, it is too big for some pouches in my purse/bag.
- I was really surprised that the color swap fun option from other lower grade Canon cameras wasn't available in this one
- not having a view finder sucks out the batteries, though I am pleased with the battery life thus far (AA rechargables - the only way to go these days)
- the battery door (also where you put the memory stick) is one of the worst features on this camera. It's hard to open and hard to close. I read that on other reviews, but I didn't think it could be that bad until I used it myself.
Having said all of that, I do not regret buying this camera. It has incredible features and performs extremely well.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable, video quality
Cons: Missing features/settings, Heavy/Bulky, no color swap

This camera is great when I take pictures of pets and it's small enough to put in my purse to take photos with my friends and family. I enjoy it's many features, and although I have my heart set on a higher megapixel SLR camera, this does a great job for how much money I have. I'm very impressed!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

I got this camera for myself for Christmas. I had waited and waited in hopes of one day being able to get the digital SLR I wanted. However I never had the money to purchase. I found this model and decided to go ahead and use this until I can one day make the purchase. I am SO HAPPY. It is a great camera! The picture quality is fantastic. Its portable and easy to use. It has so many features(you must read the manual). Also the maual setting is amazing for this small camera. I take pictures of my 17 month old all the time and I haven't had any of the problems others have stated about them being blurry. Obiously sometimes you can't focus on them fast enough when they are running everywhere!! I have compared the picture quality amongst some of the Digital SLR out there and there isnt much difference unless you are working with an incredibly high megapixel. I do have some cons.. nothing can be perfect. I wish there was a seperate viewfinder. There are times when you need to get in there. I also hate that it takes so long to recharge the flash..it causes you to miss shots. The other thing is batteries..The one thing everyone agrees on. Get rechargable(quality rechargable). With all that said I recommend this camera to anyone who has experience and want to take professional quality pictures.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Short battery life, long flash recharge, no viewfinder

zoom, zoom, zoom

This camera is great! I'm a very novice photographer, but I like professional quality photos. This has both . . . ease of use and great pics! Other than the number of megapixels, the zoom was my next most important feature. I like shooting wildlife, but it is very difficult to get close enough to get a great shot. This camera says it has a 10X optical zoom, however if you press the zoom again, it will go all the way to 40x. I can get a pic of an alligator that looks as if you are close enough to be eaten while really at a safe distance. It also has an "easy" button so you can really just point and shoot. The best camera I've ever had with very clear pics. The only very slight downfall I feel is that you must download the accompanying software before viewing your pics on the computer. Some cameras can be connected via USB and you can automatically view or download with software pre-loaded on the PC. Also, would prefer a neck strap rather than a wrist strap, but still a definite buy.

Great Pictures
on July 16, 2009

I just returned from Alaska and I'm the envy of the pictures on our tour. The stabilizer feature allowed me to take wonderful pictures of wild animals at a great distance. No one else had this type of quality pictures. I'm use to using a big camera with a big lense and needing a tripod to get good distance pictures. Not the case this time - it was great! This was a great camera to take on a vacation as it was small and compact, took great pictures and is pretty durable (It got dropped a couple times!) I took about 100 pictures on a set of batteries.
