High Battery Use
on May 12, 2012

The pictures are good for a simple point and shoot camera. I would give this camera a higher ratting but the amount of batteries it uses is tremendous. On an average day I go through two sets of batteries. This is really frustrating! Even more so when I travel in countries where it can be hard to find batteries.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: high use of batteries
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Clear Clear Pictures

I have thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures with this camera. The screen is large enough to preview the picture to see if another picture is needed. Even the download (to a computer) is fast! My only problem was taking a picture outside. It was a little difficult seeing the LCD screen in bright sunshine but I overcame that.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable

Best Purchase Ever

I exchanged three cameras from different manufacturers before I discovered this camera at the store. I own a Canon Rebel from pre-digital technology - and can I tell you? - This one is even more fun to use, the manual makes it a cinch to navigate through the thousands of features, and the image quality is - nothing less than Canon! (My only disappointment is that there is no view finder BUT it helps that the LCD displays a viewfinder).
While I am not a professional photographer, I care deeply about image quality and being able to take the "cool" artistic pictures that arise, and this camera is just incredible.
I will never go with any product but Canon (with all my product returns recently, and given the great performance of the pre-digital Rebel, I am confirmed in my deep appreciation for Canon quality).
I dare anyone at this price point to find a better camera. And the fact that I have all these features available to me means way more options to capture the great photo ops that life presents. I never need to wonder about whether my camera can handle the circumstance - it's just up to me how far I want to take photography.
I am overjoyed at this purchase. This was the only "luxury" purchase I made in the past four years (money is tight) and it was well worth it. I am glad that Canon does not assume that the consumer at this price point does not care about photography, as many manufacturers seem to.
Thank you, Canon, for the joy I experience every time I use this camera.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, batteries not expensive & recharge time is fast, memory card very reasonably priced, lightweight but not flimsy- great feel

Very nice camera except fot the battery compartment lid - worse design i've encountered in 35 years of photography. There is no software for Linux, but thank goodness Linux recognise the camera and I could download pictures!!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall the camera is just perfect for my use, however the cost of buying batteries is out of control, I may get 25 shots on 2 double AA batteries As an example went out to Yellowston National Park and took 250 pictures and used 9 sets of batteries. To expensive to use
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, Complicated controls/menu
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
