Great Camera
on December 29, 2008

Great advanced camera. Tons more features and power than most point-and-shoots. Feature rich and a lot of settings to match any situation.
May be too complicated for a first-timer or novice, but advanced amateurs and pros will find it to be a great supplement when and SLR is simply too much camera.
Macro and low-light can be a bit sluggish to focus and the screen tends to get fine scratches easily. Otherwise no problems at all. Great camera.
Cons: Complicated controls/menu, mediocre low-light and macro focus., flash takes at least 5 seconds to charge.

Easy use with rare hick ups

We are very happy with our Powershot SX110 IS! It takes really nice pictures and it is easy to use. Downloading the pictures to the computer was also easy even though I did it the first time ever! My only concern is that when you want to take a close up picture, it is not so easy to get a nice sharp picture, it is not focusing so good, but maybe I have to consult the manual again in that regard. Batteries are gone really quickly we switched now to rechargable ones.

this camera is the best one we have ever had. It takes perfectly crisp pictures. the zoom is amazing. it has different setting for like night time snapshots and also a light to reduce red eye. it is just spectacular. we couldn't be happy. i think i will stick with canon from now on as far as camera's go.

easy portable and fun!

I'm using this camera mainly to take photos at San Antonio Spurs basquetball games since cameras with detachable lenses are not allowed in the arena. I am getting really good shots without having to raise the flash, and the zoom lets me take shots of action under the basket at the opposite end of the court. I use rechargeable batteries, inserting new ones before each game, and shoot photos pretty much throughout the game. My only complaint is that some of the advanced features are difficult to figure out how to use, but I still get really good shots with the camera set on EASY mode, letting it do the thinking for me!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Slow Flash Recharge
on December 26, 2008

This is a nice camera that is full of features for is size. The only draw back about it is the time it takes to recharge the flash to take the next pic. The LCD is huge and is good quality. Get a screen protector of some kind. The only other thing is that it goes through some batteries fast. I just got some rechargeable ones and hope this helps. The camera does a fairly good job in low light and inside especially when compared to most other point and shoot cameras.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: Short battery life

I bought this camera when I went to Texas to see family. The day B-4 I left my camera just stopped It would not focuse the flash just stopped !! I had to have a camera !!!! I had not seen him and his wife and kids in two years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So their was no way that I was going to go and not be able to get pictures !!!!So I went looking for a camera I was going to buy a cheep fifty dollar one. But I kept going back and looking at this one!!!!!!!!!! It was a LOT more then I was going to spend!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never been so happy to spend more money then planned on . I love every thing about this camera.I have a severe shaking problem so I always had blurry pictures, so I would take five or more in hope that I might get one good one . With the image stablizer makes all my pictures perfect !!! I have been do happy with this camera I have been using the macro setting on things in my house. (I usually do not take pic's of thingaI have had for years ) SO I say it is the best camera I have used and I have used a lot !!!! Many different brands and by far Canon is the best. P . S . The part that was an important selling point is the AA batteries !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more expensive batteries buy a pack of rechargables and a charger and ti is cheeper then one lithium battery. It is easy to get a charger and most come with car adapter (always a plus) this camera offers so many features that I can lmost get as good of pictures if not better then my hubby who has one you can change the lenses. I must say that he can take a heck of a distant shot . But my camera holds it's own on all pictures. I LOVE ADORE this camera peoplle say it has to many features . Well That is one thing I love about this camera . I can do the same things that a big fancy camera I just can not take a picture of a moose on the other side of mountian. But you will be very supprised at how well and far this little camera can take you.For those people that say the camera has to many features would love all the things this little wonder will do ... If you want a point and shoot this is also the camera for you. I had a point and shoot B-4 and still do but I would much rather have this point and shoot then any other camera. It is also compatible with a 8 GB card not all point and shoot are .
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: terminal cover is flimsy, battery and card compartment is difficult to work
I would recommend this to a friend!

More than I expected

I wanted to move up a little in digital cameras but have nowhere near the knowledge for an SLR yet. I take a good number of pictures at work (I am a park ranger) and am often in situations where I need a good optical zoom or when shooting pictures of wildflowers, small wildlife, etc... I needed a macro that worked well. This camera has been perfect for me.
I know next to nothing beyond point and shoot as far as photography goes but since I bought this camera 1 1/2 months ago, I have taken some amazing photographs. Some of my wildflower shots have come out so well (shot in macro mode) that even friends with years of photography experience have givem me high praise. I still have not learned how to use all the features this camera offers. I can't wait to see what it (and I) can do once I have learned a little more.
I also have used name brand Ultimate Lithium batteries in my camera (non rechargeable) and got nearly a months worth of use before I needed to change them out.
A number of friends in the market for a new camera have been so impressed with SX110IS that they either have or will be buying one for themselves.
My only complaints: the cover over the LCD screen. It seems to not seal well and so moisture, dust, etc.. get behind the screen very easily. Also was not terribly impressed with the included software and so purchased a seperate photo editing program.

I love this camera!

I needed a camera for a photography class. I am not a professional & couldn't afford a digital SLR. I needed something more than the basic point & shoot, so the sales associate suggested I look at this camera.
I absolutely love it! It has from easy to manual settings. Once I learned how to use the features, it's been a lot of fun to experiment.
