Great Value

I wanted a camera to replace a lost one. First I bought another name brand, brought it home and it was the worst camera that I ever owned. So back to the store to exchange it. I bought the A1000 IS, took it home and all I can say is Wow!! It takes beautiful clear pictures, and it was over half the price of the other brand that I had taken back. I would recommend this camera to anyone. Very happy with it.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable

This is a great camera that takes perfect pictures! This is the best camera I ever owned!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life

I purchased this camera 1 year ago.I found it very flexible and easy to use.I tried all CAMERA functions/settings in various weather and light conditions and am pleased at the results for the price.This is an excellent,easy to use camera for any person to use and it's size will allow you to take it anywhere in your pants pocket,even in a "soft" camera case with 2 sets of batteries which you "should never leave home with out". The only problem I found with this camera is it's insatiable appetite to devour batteries and I have tried ALL brands of rechargeable batteries and several brands of non-rechargeable batteries with the best luck from a good generic brand.

Great Camera

I still own an AE1 film camera but this A1000IS Power shot is much easier to use and takes outstanding photos. The ease of use is the absolute best.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Poor Battery Life

If you purchase this camera expect very poor battery life. Using the supplied batteries I was able to take 32 pictures (combination of flash and non-flash using the viewfinder) before the batteries ran out. Similar battery life using rechargables. I purchased this camera to replace a Canon 540 and I am sorry I did. The old camera was great with battery life.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality
Cons: Dim LCD, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Little Camera!

Only my second digital camera. Two of my friends owned this camera & loved it. Great photo quality, easy to use & very reasonably priced. Only negatives was the delay of the snapshot after pushing the button and the battery door is difficult to open & close.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, great price!
Cons: battery door difficult to open/close, slow response to snapshots

My 1st digtal camera

This is my 1st dital camera. I bought it in April of this year. I was very impress with the canon products, because I was "shopping on-line to see what was out here. The power shot A1000 IS, is one of the easyest and simplest camera to use. I really love this camera. I have tried it on the 6 megapixel, and 4 megapixel, setting and I can not tell the difference. I even took a picture made it into a 4 * 6 inch, and then made a 8 by 10 picture. It look like a copy off a magazine cover. I will highly recommend this camera to everyone I know.

Great Camera

I love my PowerShot! I keep it in my purse. Being a grandmother, you never know when it may be needed to take that special picture. The photos and videos are great quality. Perfect for sharing with family and friends. I have recently purchased a PowerShot SX30IS (super zoom) but will continue to carry my smaller PowerShot with me at all times.
