Great little camera!!!!

This is my second Cannon Sure Shot camera. I have had it for 4 months and have used it extensively. It performs very well, and does as good of video clips as my camcorder. Crystal clear pictures are the norm. Good audio clarity on the video clips. I love having the optical view finder, as I have trouble seeing the display on the back of the camera.
Now for the dark side!!! This camera, as well as my other one, seem to have a problem with the shutter opening and closing completely at times.... I love this camera, tho and would highly recommend it to those who want great pictures and video with little knowlege of the more technical aspects of photography.

I got the Canon A1000 on Christmas morning, and I love it! It is a great starter upper.It does have short battery life, so buy rechargable batteries and always have a set of double AA batteries batteries at your side! This is a wonderful camera, that I do recommend!

A stitch in Time...

I bought this camera because it is light and compact to use on a trek in the Himalayas. Fits in pocket while on the streets for quick shots. Viewfinder required in bright light in Sikkim. A little heavier then I hoped for but took great photos. This is my third Canon digital and will not be my last. One thing missing = no stitch assist feature.

Best first digital camera ever

This is my first digital camera purchase ever. I was stuck with film camera for a while because I took class while I was in high school to develop film and take photos. So I was really wasn't sure I wanted to go digital but I started talking to my nephew and he recommed this camera and told it will that get shots. He was so right. I recently went to the zoo and took the camera into the insects sections and all them in glass pens. So i switch the camera to aquarium shots and the pitcures came out clear without the glare. There is so many other things that I hasn't try yet but I can't wait to try.

Had to have an optical view finder for starters and a pocket carry to supplement XSi.
Rated excellent on all counts because it does what we hoped for better than we hoped for. Researched thoroughly before purchase. . Wife has captured it .. so ..... I may get an XTi ;-).
Can't imagine a better unit for the purpose.

Bought the camera for a trip to the southwest. We traveled by car. I was delighted to be able to take pictures (while car in motion) and have them turn out perfectly. I'm still learning features but that is part of the fun. Great camera. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Camera comes in a nice color choices. lightweight. Battery life is terrible. Went on an outing and had to purchase fresh batteries 2X. Mot good if you need to take pictures for a long period of time unless you buy stock in a battery company
