I bought it specifically to carve my Thanksgiving turkey and ham. It worked extremely well on both but with the smooth handle the cutting became precarious because of the accumulated fat and juices from the meat. I had to wrap a cloth around the handle to hold on. Maybe a rougher handle or less juicy meats would help. The stand is very handy with the cord storage.

I have used the knife 1 time, carved a 10 pound ham without resting the knife and it did not heat up or fail. The only reason I am not giving the knife 5 star is that my old identical knife would get hot and broke after 1 year.
