We have different amounts of coffee on different days so it's easy to just re-set the number of cups needed. Only took a week to really get the hang of it. The user has to remember there is 2-3 second pause before the beans are engaged. My husband thought it wasn't working the first time he pushed the button. There is always a drip or two when removing the pot. For our use, we now know that once the 1/2 lb. of coffee is gone, we need to clean the "dust". It does tell us if we forget. Smart machine!. We've actually owned Grind and Brew pots from Cuisinart for 15 years and wouldn't pick anything else. This one replaced an 8 year old machine and 3 year old pot.

Just full of design flaws. A total nightmare to clean. The stainless carafe is a total joke. How is it Yeti, and countless others, can get a stainless container right, yet the one you design can’t pour out all the coffee due to the ridiculous lip at the top. Another nightmare to clean. And the “auto stop” feature that is supposed to allow you to pour a cup before it’s finished brewing doesn’t work due to the carafe lid design. Heck, when it’d finished brewing it still leaks coffee onto the warming plate when removing the carafe to pour.
If you want a grind a brew, just take the time to grind your own coffee and brew it in a normal coffee maker. You will actually save more time in cleaning than using this overpriced, poorly designed, machine.

I had my last burr & grind for about 11 years until it finally died. It was great! The new 'improved' version leaks water in the front right corner after brewing. Also, I have the carafe version and the plate that it sits on gets really hot. I don't remember the carafe version that I had before having any heating element in the plate.

I've had this unit for about 7 months, and bought it to replace a Cuisinart DGB-625 because I was looking for a thermal carafe option. Had I known that this one doesn't use the hot plate to heat the carafe at all, I wouldn't have considered it. The unit is nicer and easier to keep clean than the 625, and at first it did great. Over a few months though it started throwing dry coffee grinds out the left side, most of which land on the top of the carafe and get into the coffee that is being made. Then, about three months ago the chute latch would randomly not open, so sometimes it would drop coffee into the basket, and sometimes it wouldn't and you'd end up with a carafe full of hot water. I clean this unit METICULOUSLY. You basically have a 50-50 shot at getting coffee with this unit. On the upside, I've cut back my coffee intake significantly thanks to this unit - I hardly drink it all anymore. But picking this unit was definitely a mistake and I would not do it again, even for half the price.

Worked very well for 10 months then the grinder stopped working. It was covered under the warranty but at my expense for returning old unit and cuisinart shipping me a new one.

It works well, and is not too difficult to set up. Cleaning is easy too.
I only wish the coffee darkness could be set somewhere between medium and strong; medium’s not quite right and strong is bitter to my taste. But I think I can live with medium and grow to enjoy it more. The big luxury for me is the built-in burr grinder! Having fresh brewed coffee is great.
