I have been wanting a good camera for a long time, I don't know too much about photography, so I wanted something that is easy to use. I am impressed, this camera is so easy to use and I was taking pictures as soon as I took it out of the box, the clarity and color is amazing. I tried "Live View" but would rather look through the view finder. I also really like the 300mm lense that came with it, I had a canon 210mm with an old camera and the 300mm is awesome. So far I am very happy with my camera and am glad I bought it. I can't wait to take more professional looking pictures with my new Rebel Camera.
Pros: very easy to use awesome clarity and color.
Cons: a spare battery is expensive
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a Father's Day gift from my wife. She really surprised me because I had no idea she was looking for a camera for me. I've never owned a SLR camera because I always used the point and shoot type of cameras.
This camera is awesome! All the different features, the ease of use, the picture quality, etc.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Can't stop shooting...

I have always loved to keep a pictoral record of events but when I got my rebel XS for christmas 2008 everything changed. I went from a simple point and click person to a photo and composition addict. It was the perfect camera for me. The wheel with the automatic settings made it an easy transition for me. After seeing what I could do with the automatic settings I decided to experiment with some of the manual settings. I had no idea you could do this stuff with a camera. I still have a lot to learn but this camera let's me set up any photo I can think of. I can't stop shooting!
Pros: excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, good battery life

I bought this camera for my first photography class this summer and I love it! I've had so much fun learning how to use it, and it has never let me down. I've taken over 3000 photos with it in 3 months and I've only had to charge the battery a handfull of times, it's great!! The controls are simple and easy to learn how to use. From my experience I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone wanting to try DSLR. I was a little intimidated before I got it, but now I don't think I will ever use a point and shoot again! I love my camera!
Pros: Simple controls/menu, easy to use, good battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

after researching for months, i finally broke down and bought this camera as my first slr. for only two weeks of use, i pretty much understand all the features. the clarity of the photos taken is amazing. my only complaint is that in dim lighting and without flash, pictures tend to come out very blurry. overall, great buy for an amateur photographer.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Dim LCD, Complicated controls/menu

First, I am NOT a pro. I am an amateur hobbyist photographer at best. But this camera is great, and has a nice solid feel to it. It's going to have all of the professional features your ever going to need as a beginner in the DSLR world. You will be amazed and its a whole new world apart from point and shoots, regardless of the modern point and shoot features or model used.
I DID replace the 18-55 kit lens it came with, which is the ONLY reason I gave a 4 for performance (its a kit lens, nice, but a kit lens). The camera itself is wonderful. I use an EF 28-135mm IS USM as my 'walk around lens' (and now this thing is taking some GREAT shots!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! Look out... I'm starting to feel like a pro (grin)). The great thing about the SLR aspect, is the selection and application of lenses depending on your use of the camera, so you may want to replace the kit lens with something different depending on application and budget. But you HAVE choices, thats the great thing about DSLR.
Overall, I think its a phenomenal way to get into DSLR photography, and you will have a lot more of a pro camera than you think.
Thanks Canon!!!
Pros: great feel, great images, plenty of features, great price-point
Cons: none
I would recommend this to a friend!
