Very good starter SLR camera

I have only had this camera for a short while but can see right now that this was a good choice for a stater SLR cmaera. I have had several Canon point and shoot cameras with great success. I have had enough time to go over and use some of the features of this SLR and I can tell you it's a great buy. It has all the features that a novice photographer would want and something a new user can grow into. I wish it had the rubberized body like a lot of the others but for the price I'm not going to complain. Great Buy, Thanks Canon!
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings, noisy

Awesome Camera

This is my wife and I first SLR camera, and it is second to none! Excellent image quality and great features. Canon definetly builds a superior product. Everything comes out crystal clear. At first the features were a little tricky to master but the tutorial on the website helps alot. I would definetly recommend to anyone.

If I had to recommend a digital camera, it would be the Canon EOS Rebel XS. It handles superbly and works excellently! This camera does everything I want to shoot. Economical and worthy of the Canon family

Great Camera, Great Price

This is my first digital SLR camera and I'm more than satisfied. I take a lot of close-up shots and the pictures turn out to be clear and detailed. The settings are easy to figure out, it's lightweight and easy to use. Highly recommended for the amateur or the professional on a budget.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: noisy

Impressive Camera

I love this camera. I've had it 8 or 9 months. I am using it in my attempts to learn deep sky astrophotography, and it's perfect for the job. The image editing tools, and the light sensitivity, combined with the low noise level is wonderful.
The images I've taken during the day - in the light - have been magnificent. Auto focus, sharpness, color balance... everything's wonderful.
Pros: feels like a professional's camera!, great performance!, great price!
Cons: no cons

Best purchase ever

After using various point and shoot cameras, I had lost as many pictures as I took. Focus, lack of flash, slow recovery for next shot. The EOS Rebel XS corrected all my problems and complaints. It's actually fun to take pictures again. Dollar for dollar, the best purchase I made this year.
Pros: easy to use, cost

I was very excited to have my first adjustable lens camera and the price was right! However, the camera shuts down and will not start up until the battery is taken out and put back in, which is very annoying. I read another review mentioning the same problem. Other than that, I am enjoying the camera and learning how to use it. It does have very good image quality. I am hoping to get the camera fixed but am unhappy about the defect.

Cons: Poor build quality

An excellent dslr to start with

I have been using this camera body for a year. It was my first dslr. It has enough features to help beginners start taking great pictures and has the professional canon quality that i love. For what it is priced at right now, it is a good choice for a beginning photographer. I love my rebel xs and will continue to use it for a long time.

Cons: Slow Start-up time, no video
