I purchased my camara only a few day's ago but my initial impression is great. I would have given this camara a 5 star rating right through, but I didn't because of a few "VERY MINOR" issues. As I said I've only had this camara a very short while so I haven't gotten to know it very well yet. I have found all the features, settings and options to be very overwhelming. If this camara is marketed as an entry level model in it's field, I thought it might be a little more user friendly. Like I said, minor and completely a personal thing. Once I get to know it I'm sure it will be easier to use. Just a heads up for those interested in it. Other than that, the quality of the pictures, and it's speed to use it are fantastic. I take wildlife photo's and it excels in that area. The camara fires up and is ready to use almost instantly. It is certainly worth the money and I would have no problems recommending this camara to anybody wanting to step up to a better camara. I am completly satisfied with it and am looking foward to a long career with this model.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

When it works, it's GREAT!

While I've taken some wonderful photos with this camera, I find the quality to be questionable. I purchased my first camera of this model in May 2009. It malfunctioned in the middle of shooting (it was never mishandled) and was replaced on warranty/service plan with a new camera of the identical model. After four months of receiving the new replacement camera, the autofocus does not work. This is not an issue of attempting to focus in unfavorable conditions, it just simply stopped working, again for no good reason and the camera was handled properly at all times. That is my reason for low ratings on quality and satisfaction. Fortunately, I have a nice point and shoot for a backup, but I'm disappointed to be without my SLR again.
I think the controls are user friendly to a decent degree. When everything is working, I am able to get nice outdoor photos. I even figured out how to get good photos of basketball action, and of kids on a stage in a gym - both lighting challenges in my opinion.
I find it odd however that this model has given me trouble on two separate cameras. Information of similar disfunctions is not difficult to locate, so I don't think it is an isolated occurance.
Pros: great outdoor photos, user friendly controls
Cons: unreliable design service issues, must use viewfinder to see photo not lcd display
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I would definitely recommend this camera to someone else.
Although since I'm used to taking photos of myself, the fact that it isn't compatible with a wireless reciever takes quite a toll on my personal photos.
I kind of regret not paying the extra $ for an XSi, but hey, this is a great starter camera for beginners.
Pros: Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life

Have not used an SLR in many years. Got married and wanted a good camera for honeymoon and moving forward. This camera proved itself quickly. With no practice time I was able to take some "postcard" quality pictures in Sedona and Grand Canyon. I will recommend this camera to anyone I know that is in the market for one.
Pros: excellent image quality, Quick Start-up time, easy to use, good battery life

I bought this camera as an upgrade from my point and shoot camera (also a Canon). The pre-sets are all the same as on my old Power Shot, so I was able to use the camera right out of the box. Rather helpful, as I am new to the whole SLR thing, and will require some learning time to get used to all of the capabilities of this camera. So far, I love it!
Pros: excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings

Got this camera for my wife as a christmas present in 2008. Now the rest of my family wants one for this year. She loves it and takes it pretty much any where. A little advanced for me but she can work it with ease. A little bulky to carry. She has three extra lens' and they all stay in the case with the camera with extra batteries and cleaner. Overall its a great camera.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, quiet, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky
I would recommend this to a friend!

This camera really is all that and moree:) I absolutely love it! The only thing that bothers me is when it reads "Busy" because then I have to wait for it to finish being busy so I can take another picture. Other than that, it's amazing!
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
