well is the first time i use a dslr camera. with not knoledge at all is very easy to use. i'm taking some class on photography, and i think is going to be awesome.
the only down side or what i didn't like is that the screen is too small 3" would be great but is ok for first times, and the carring case at least a cheap one made out of microsuede for protecction against scratches whily i buy a kit.

over all is a great camera for beginers, and with a budget.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Awesome for the price. Quick to learn and easy to use. Lacks a few of the features from the more expensive models but basicly has everything a beginner or amateur would need.
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings

This is nice camera for entry level SLR. Easy handling, easy functions almost same like as digital camera but getting SLR pics.

my 3rd SLR

This is my 3rd SLR camera. This is the first digital. When my wife and I went to Hawaii, we took over 1000 digital pictures and they were great. Then we took it on a cruise out of Pueto Rico and took about 1000 digital pictures. This has been the best camera I've owned
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Dim LCD, small lcd screen

I purchased the Rebel XS in October, and have nothing but great times with this camera. I'm on a fixed income and this camera was within reach for my budget. It's easy to setup and the menus are easy to read. The picture quality is excellent. Its compact design makes this solid and comfortable camera easy to handle. I can only rate the Rebel XS as excellent and would recommend it to anyone wanting to upgrade to a DSLR.

Good camera for the money

The first day I did not like that I could not use the lcd live view in every setting. I could only use the lcd screen in the custom settings and not pre-set. I'm getting a little use to using the viewfinder now. Very hard when wearing glasses. I did research, ALOT, and the more i checked the more the rebel was high on the rating/reviews. I like that the features are there when I get comfortable to use them.
Pros: ranks top of the chain with the competitors, user friendly after learning the basics, price
Cons: lcd does not tilt, packaged zoom lense is very "basic" (up to 55mm)

Best Camer I have ever bought.

I have been searching the web and stores for over a year and the EOS Digital Rebel XS is the only one that I found that compares to everything I wanted and needed. I can fit all my lenses, flash, cords, holders, and much more in the case I purchases, completely one carrier compacted. It is easy to use, light weight and portable. The quality speaks for itself. It is quiet, easy to use and the images (pictures) come out in excellent quality.

A bit dissapointed

I have also had problems with the camera shutting down and having to take the battery out to get it to start up again. Missed some good shots because of this. Also I was surprised no wireless remote is available for this model. a little "cheap" feeling. Other than that a good starter camera.
Pros: Bright LCD, Quick Start-up time, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: Poor build quality, Missing features/settings
