I love the camera, but was stunned to learn that there is no provision for plugging in a slave flash for use in event photography. Also didn't realize that exposure bracketing is not possible when operating remotely with a PC.
Pros: excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings

Great entry level DSLR

I purchased this camera and I am very satisfied with it. I had a 6.3MP Canon Rebel and wanted to upgrade because the screen on this was bigger and because of the liveview.
If you don't need the video function (I carry around a Flip for video), this camera is great for taking pictures. I already had several lenses from my old camera and with this camera, all the pictures came out 150% better than my old one. All the features were almost identical to my old Canon Rebel so the learning curve was easy.
I did a lot of research on the net and for the price this camera will give you awesome pictures with the right lenses. I would recommend this camera to anyone who asks.
Pros: bigger screen, live view
Cons: only 7 autofocus points

First off, a wonderful choice for someone looking into getting a first time SLR or someone coming from EOS film cameras.
The battery life is amazing! It is very comfortable to use and is also quite easy for someone who knows what they are doing.
My only quarrels are the kit lens and some of the totally unnecessary auto modes. Basically the kit lens (18-55mm IS ) is hopelessly bad; it is so slow you have to use ISO 800 when not under direct light. i don't like the auto modes, because most people that would actually buy a dSLR probably not need such thing and would be better used as custom settings.
Pros: excellent image quality, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life

DSLR Experience

I have been addicted to photography ever since getting the Canon Rebel XS 1000D. This camera has opened a whole new world of photography to me. It is far superior to any point and shoot camera. I don't leave the house now without my camera. My only regret is that I did not spend the extra money and get the Canon Rebel X1i with full feature video. It's a bummer that this model doesn't have video but for the price it's a winner.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, good styling

I am very pleased with the overall package. if you don't have any previous experience with DSLR then this should be a great start for the entry level photography. Eventually I will buy the higher model.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use, affordable
Cons: noisy, Complicated controls/menu, poor performance with 300mm lense
I would recommend this to a friend!
