I recently en-rolled in college for my Bachelors Photography. I need a camera with all the features but not all the wallet busting prices. I was very happy when I came across the Canon Rebel EOS. This camera is optimal for every shooting condition out there. I use it to do wedding, sports, and scenic photos with no problem. The auto lighting optimizer helps drastically when shooting in low light conditions, such as indoor weedings, The advanced AF selection points help to focus in on just what you want to be clear. The cameras also features an automatic sensor cleaning system, it has 5 creative zones and 7 automatic zones, custom white balance and most importantly it shoots in RAW file mode. This mode is great if you use Photoshop for your image processing. All in all this camera was a very affordable and rewarding, packed with features and 100% user friendly you couldn't ask for a better camera for the price
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

I just read the review below dated December 22, 2008... and I wholeheartedly agree with every single thing. I wanted one of these FOREVER and I got one for Christmas (YAY!) I LOVELOVELOVELOVE this camera. It does everything I want and more. I'm still figuring out the settings, but they are pretty self-explanatory. Great investment!

Quadruppled my possibilities

I take pictures for the yearbook at my high school, but I was looking for something better than the point and shoots the school had. Since I am thinking about entering photojournalism as a profession in the future I figured I should probably get some entry-level stuff so I can get used to the lingo and dealing with DSLRs...and to get higher quality images for portfolios for college and scholarships.
Speaking as a first-time DSLR user, I was able to begin taking pictures right out of the box. Granted I highly doubt I know all the features.
This is a great camera to have before stepping up to pro-level cameras which are much more confusing.
Yes, it is noisy but that's the way SLRs are. Yes, it is expensive, but its the cheapest SLR on the market...making it great for beginners like me.
I wish it would perform to higher ISO levels...it stops at 1600. I also wish it would take more than 3 pictures per second...but then again, this is a cheap, entry-level camera so 8 frames a second picture-taking like we see with the Marks shouldn't be expected.
Image quality is good...once again, don't expect the quality the pros from Getty and AP have because 1) they have top-of-the-line lenses and 2) they buy the nice, Mark cameras. But, for my case, a yearbook/school paper, and a casual user this will suffice. If you work for a large paper or publication, bump up and get something a little more expensive.
Also, the built-in flash it pretty good. I used it for basketball this season, since I didn't have my hot-shoe flash yet, and it worked pretty good with the kit lens.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Good value for money

Perfect camera for people who wants more than a advanced point&shot can provide. Very good IQ; prone to get consistent exposure and flash metering rather than being easy for P&S users - people that knows how to use the locks for exposure and focus will always get the desired result; very good lens for the price - sharp enough for most applications, and worlds better than any point&shot. Very good for macro photography, with a perfectly smooth bokeh when focusing near subjects (but aperture/focal length not big enought for bokeh on portraits). Very sharp and low CA on wide end (above average of entry-level lens).
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, consistent metering, sd and sdhc cards, live view good for precise manual focus on tripod
Cons: Poor build quality, poor white balance, lacks spot metering, metering not easy as compact cameras
