Rebel Rousing

After using a first-generation Rebel digital SLR at work for years, I finally got one for myself and I'm very satisfied with the product. It's fairly easy to use, takes great pictures and is easy to handle. My only drawback is that for someone like me, who is not that tech savvy, it takes hours learning the camera's every little nuance. But that's a minor dilemma I'm learning to live with.
Pros: add a pro

This is a great camera. Itis my second DSLR and it blows away my first one (older 10D pro model). I have bought all the bells and whistles that you buy for this camera. From canon speedlite to aftermarket digital battery grip. This camera also works great with older FD lenses if you have the adapter-(must be used in man. focus though). I have taken great pictures with it and love that it has live view.
Pros: live view
Cons: live view only works in manul mode

The EOS Canon XS SLR camera has all the features of a great quality SLR camera that you would generally expect from a wonderful Canon product. The photograph quality is exceptional and Formats can easily be adjusted for editing(if desired). The features on this particular camera are very simple and easy to use. I would recomend this camera to any person who has the will and desire to get into photography on a small balance.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Dim LCD

Very Good Entry-Level DSLR

Our kit included 2 lenses and was selected on the basis of brand reputation, perceived quality and price for the array of items included in the kit. This has proven to be a very versatile kit, with features not expected in this price range. One drawback was the lack of IR receiver for wireless remote shutter control, which is found on the next higher model. For us, this has been a very good entry-level DSLR and we will remain with this brand for our next purchase, in order to retain use of the accessories and lenses that we already have.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, value for the price
Cons: Missing features/settings, noisy

Pretty Satisfied

This camera is perfect for any beginner photographer or a person who takes pictures as a hobby. Right now for just taking pictures with my friends it's perfect! But, if you want it for a more professional job, this is not the right camera. In the near future, I am going to purchase the T3i for more advanced uses. Overall, though, I am very happy with my purchase.
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings

Malfunctioned

I bought this camera after having a canon powershot that went through the ringer. I had the camera for years and I bought the rebelxs with the expectation that it would be built with the same standards. I originally loved this camera. I got some great shots. However after I had the camera for about 2 years, the camera stopped reading memory cards. I tried several different cards, formatting them etc and losing all the pictures I had on them. For the price I paid for it, I am ticked that it only lasted a little while. Fortunately I had bought the camera with an extended warranty from another company. When the camera could not be fixed they gave me an upgrade to the T3. Hopefully I won't have any problems with this camera.
Pros: good battery life, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: card reader malfunctioned
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
