For the first couple of weeks, use of the sonic toothbrush tickles the gums, but you get used to it and it is really not a problem. As to whether it whitens your teeth, the jury is still out on this one. It does clean the teeth and gums much better than the traditional tooth brush.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been very satisfied with the toothbrush. I thought initially you should be able to choose either clean or clean and white and not have to select each time, but with use I've decided the design is right. I usually do clean and white, but occasionally heading to bed late at night and very tired, I want to keep it as short as possible and the design makes this easy to do.

Was a replacement for a older style Sonicare that we had bought several years ago. Very Pleased with the different setting so we could get used to the "white mode". I am very pleased with how long the charge lasts between having to recharge it.
I wish that it did have a double stand to hold both of our brushes as we have a two brush set and that it was water proof as well.
Overall if you are looking for a replacement toothbrush or one to start with, this is one I would recommend.
Pros: charge lasts a long time, my dentist approved of this brand, travel case holds up well
Cons: not water proof, no non-charging stand

I liked this model much better than the little red non-re-chargeable model because it is faster, more thorough, and doesn't wear down and stop. It cost a lot more, but in the end, I think it will be a better cleansing tool.
