Seal broke at the top

We have loved this toothbrush, but its only as good as it lasts and it only lasted just beyond the warranty period and now we have nothing to show for it. The rubber seal broke down underneath where the head snaps on and water got into the inside and shorted the electronics out. So we are now left with a fancy handheld manual toothbrush. Very frustrated that something we paid good money for only lasted for about a year and broke down with regular use. We can't justify spending this much money every year for one toothbrush. Too bad, because it had so much potential. I actually convinced friends and family to get their own, but now i wish i hadn't. DON'T BUY!!
Pros: awesome toothbrush, awesome cleaning, ease of use
Cons: didn't last

The toothbrush assembly didn't last. The end where you insert the new brush got real wobbly and I had to throw it out.

Had to throw it out because it started to wobble at the place you insert a new brush. This product should last longer than 2 years when you pay that kind of money for one.

Excellent product, however it has reliability issues

I have owned several toothbrushes over the past few years. Before I bought a Sonicare I had a unit from one of the major competitors. In terms of performance the Sonicare wins hands-down. However, in terms of reliability it is a loser. Each toothbrush that me or my family has owned has broken after 2 to 4 years of use. This is unacceptable for a product that is only used four minutes per day. If I owned any other electronic or electric product that I used only 4 minutes every day I would expect it to last more than 2 to 4 years.
If Phillips could fix the reliability issues this would be a five star product in every sense of the word.
Pros: results in ultra clean teath
Cons: has tendency to break after 2-4 years.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Like the product though despite careful handling have had to replace the unit 3 times in last 4+ years because brush post loosened.
Cons: hope this one lasts more than 18 months!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This product is poorly made and overpriced.

One month after I got it the UV light stopped working. I called in and the lady told me how to take it out, wipe it off and see if it would work. It didn't at first so she sent me another bulb. The first one did work, twice, after I wiped it again. The new one came. I used that one about 3 times and it stopped working. I wiped it and it worked about twice. Now the light no longer works again. I wish I hadn't bought this expensive thing. But now that I paid another $50 for more brush heads, I am stuck. Never again!
Pros: the light was pretty the few times it worked.
Cons: it is expensive., it doesn't work., my teeth didn't get any whiter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

design flaw?

We had previously used the Sonicare models with the old screw-on brush and decided to "upgrade" to the the new design. We were pretty happy with it at first. It is lighter, smaller, easier to handle than the old ones we'd used before. But after only 6 months of use, the post that holds the brush heads loosened within the housing. The device still worked, sort of, though there was a lot of noise and extra vibration of the handle. I returned it today and opted to get the older Essence design instead, but now have discovered that the Essence models now available have no quad-pacer timers and am considering returning it as well.
Pros: slimmer lightweight
Cons: broke after 6 months use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Short product life

this is the second Sonicare product to fail in under a year
For the price paid it was not worth it. One product failing could be an exception - two indicates a deeper problem
I replaced the unit with a disposable at a tenth the cost and have already surpassed a tenth the life.
Pros: dentist reccomended
Cons: dentists are overrated

Terrible Product

We are now on our third Sonicare and again it has packed in. THEY DO NOT LAST. Very poor quality and I will not be buying another one
Pros: good when it works
Cons: usually breaks down just outside the guarantee
