Works well and only needs occassional recharging

We have been using the Sonicare toothbrush for years and just recently purchased the same brand to replace ones we had worn out. I have peridontal issues and most have been resolved or at least kept from progressing through the use of this toothbrush

There is a learning curve

The first time I turned on the toothbrush after adding toothpaste, toothpaste flew everywhere even though it was only a dab. I learned to put toothpaste on the brush, swirl the brush on my teeth and then, with brush in my mouth, turn it on. Hints in brochure would be helpful.
The first brush head kept coming off even though securely seated on the unit. The replacement brush head works well but I'm nervous I'll encounter the same problem when this one is replaced with those that came with the unit.
The unit seems to do a good job of cleaning my teeth.

Purchased my first Phillips Sonicare brush in 1997 just replaced it in April of 2012. I think that in itself speaks quality.
Pros: does an excellent job

I picked the Sonicare over the Oral B because I wanted my toothbrush to move up and down rather than in a circle. I like the toothbrush. It cleans well, the bristles seem durable (after 6 weeks), and it's handsome enough. What would I change? I would make it just a tad easier to shut off while it is still in your mouth. If you take it out to look for the off button while its going, it splashes everywhere (i suspect they all do this). The button should be a little raised or should be a small switch that is easily found by feel. This is not a big issue, but if a toothbrush designer is listening -- it would keep my mirror cleaner to have a raised switch-off button!
I have no need for special functions like a timer. I know when I'm done brushing my teeth. So, I bought a somewhat less expensive, low function toothbrush (HealthyWhites) and it does the job. Go with Sonicare, go with a simple variety to save money.

After brushing with my Sonicare toothbrush my teeth feel squeeky clean -- just like after a visit to my dental hygenist. My mouth and gums feel alive!
Pros: re-charging is effortless.
