Colorado has hard water, and some granular detergents can combine with hard water minerals and form a residue. Try increasing the water temperature using the hottest water safe for the fabric. Use liquid detergent or use non-precipitating water conditioner with powder detergent. Remember to add items one at a time, each tightly bunched into its own “ball” to allow beneficial item interaction. In a machine with no agitator, plates or discs cause the tub to gently juggle or spin the laundry. Items will be saturated but not covered by water. The unique impeller motion moves clothes through the water, using the motion of clothes against each other to aid in cleaning. Loads are moved from the outside to the middle then down to the outside edges. Avoid loading items in a flat, laid-out fashion (different from the way I learned to load a washing machine!).
