After a few shaves my face adjusted to the razon. It leaves a soft smooth feeling after my shave. I would reccomend it to anyone. Also I like the design and ease of movement.
Pros: no more bleeding after a shave
Cons: it only showes about 57 minutes when charged
I've used Norelcos for fifty years. They always give the best shave I can get. They took a simple concept and a truly wonderful shaver has evolved. My new SensoTouch 3D 1290X is the best one yet.
Pros: quick and comfortable, well made product
I would recommend this to a friend!

Big disappointment

This product is poorly engineered. It does not shave as well as previous Norelco shavers. I had the Norelco 8894 which was superior to this one in every way, including the display of the shave time, which 1290X does not have, as well as the total battery time. Also, the 1290X drops hair while shaving from the side of the compartment, which is a major inconvenience. The trimmer of the 1290X is too narrow and ineffective.
To summarize, this is an example of a product that looks cool, but is badly engineered.
Poor battery performance in otherwise excellent razor

You cannot keep this razor plugged in all the time. In about a year, the battery goes dead. You have to continually use it until the charge is used, then re charge again. A big nuisance. They could have chosen a different battery during the design phase.
this is a real good shaver wet or dry would recommend it to anybody

I have owned numerous electric shavers over the past 20 years and for the last 6 of them have been a loyal Norelco user. I just upgraded to the 1290x and what a huge difference over the my Norelco Arcitec Shaver 1090 that I had been using for the past 18 months. I didn't need to replace my 1090 as it still works but I had spoken to many of my friends who told me what a big difference the 1290x made.
The unit has a great appearance better ergonomic feel sitting in your hand. The unit is much quieter and I feel the blades are spinning faster. The 1st shave after charging the shaver was very noticeable in how much smoother my face felt even though I had shaved 6 hours earlier.
Verdict: This was well worth the extra money I spent and I would definitely recommend this shaver to everyone.
Pros: appearance, ergonomic feel, quiter motor, feels like the blades are spinning faster, unreal shave, 2.5 year warranty
Cons: must remove shaver from charger after 60 minutes, a little inconvenience in opening 3 blade cases
I would recommend this to a friend!

Foil wear

Got this shaver as Christmas present in 2012. Had to replace the head unit after 3 months, the foil covers came apart because the blades cut thur it. The next head unit lasted about 4 months and the same again . Costly to replace whole head
I've owned another brand of shaver for about 10 years, and was a bit skeptical about changing brands and also the other one was a foil head vs separate heads...Philips Norelco SensoTouch 3D wet and dry electric razor 1290X/40 give me a smooth shave and has excellent battery life. Wish there was a compact travel charger supplied. Also, sometimes one of the heads pop off while im grinding down the daily gruff. with my experience in the last few months i get a close have and pretty satisfied with the product.
