Have used this razor for over a year and its the worst design and gives the poorest shave of any Norelco product I have had over several decades of Norelco use.The trimmer is also poorly designed. I keep an old model going just for the trimmer. Now it says I nee a new head and they no longer are making this model head. I will just toss it out and find a better product, probably not a Norelco product as they seem to have lost their way.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The razor is quite and does not irritate skin like the vibrating models. You can go over the same spot as many times as you need without burning. It is very quite.
cleaning it is quick, easy, and cheap. You don't have to keep buying cleaning solutions. Just rinse and your done.

Cons: still not as close as a blade

I've had 3 previous Norelco shaversw and this is the best. I use it with Fusion shaving cream and I get as close a shave as I get with a blade.

this shaver cuts all hairs long medium and stubble hairs, and is so easy to clean,the charge is a full 60 minutes just as advertised. I would recommend this shaver to anyone. This is great shaver.
Pros: best shaver on the market

Defective out of the box

I just purchased this razor for my husband for Christmas. It looks nice and the battery charged quickly. Too bad he never got to use it because the power button is defective and it wont turn on. It just lights up when you move the razor. Pretty crummy design with the power 'button'.
Some great quality control they have going on over at Phillips. I would expect that if i pay over $200 for a product then it will work when its BRAND NEW.

I have always used Philips Norelco electric razors. This model is the best I have ever found. Faster, cleaner, smooth shave using the 3D wet dry 1290X/40 then any of the razors in the past. I have given this model a five star rating and highly recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a new electric razor that wants quality and a smooth shave.
