quiet and cleans great
on November 10, 2009

The dishwasher cleans great. It's super-quiet which is one of the main features I was looking for. The energy star rating made this a good choice too. In terms of loading, plates and bowls do not stand up in the rack very well. Also, the silverware basket lids are not made for silverware with broad handles--so loading has had some challenges. The ease of use, great cleaning, and quiet operating outweigh the negatives.
Pros: Quality, easy to use, Performance
Cons: Features/Settings

CADILLAC OF DISHWASHERS

THIS LG WASHER IS JUST SUPER. OUR PREVIOUS WASHER WAS VERY NOISY AND WOULD ALWAYS LEAVE WHITE STREAKS OR SPOTS ON THE GLASSES & DISHES AFTER THEY WERE WASHED. ALSO, SINCE OUR BEDROOM ADJOINS THE KITCHEN, MY WIFE WOULD ALWAYS COMPLAIN. DO NOT SET THE DISHWASHER TO WASH DISHES WHEN WE GO TO BED BECAUSE IT IS SO NOISY AND I CANNOT SLEEP WITH ALL THAT NOISE THE DISHWASHER MAKES. WELL, EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT AND INSTALLED THIS LG DISHWASHER IN OUR KITCHEN, WE CAN SET THE DISHWASHER TO WASH THE DISHES AND GLASSES AND RETIRE TO BED AND BE ABLE TO SLEEP SOUNDLY WITH NICE CLEAN DISHES TO BOOT. THE LG WASHER OPERATES LIKE A WHISPER IN THE NIGHT. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR LG.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, s/s easy to clean

Not impressed

My husband and I purchase this appliance in December of last year for our newly remodeled kitchen. I was all excited to finally have a new dishwasher. Little did I know how unhappy I would be because of this appliance. You have to completely wash all dishes before placing them in there and then after it does the dry cycle it rinses them again so I end up having to hand dry all dishes when it is done. Not sure if this is a defect in the machine. But I hate the fact that I am stuck with this dishwasher. It was a waste of money.
Pros: Style/Design
Cons: Value, Features/Settings, Difficult to use

Efficient/Pretty But could be even better

Style: The sleek design of this dishwasher can look beautiful in any kitchen. I love the quietness and the musical chime (not cheesy at all) that lets you know all cycles are complete.
Performance: This dishwasher does a nice job of cleaning and sanitizing. In response to the person who doesn't like to rinse the food off first, I have always done that anyway, no matter what brand of dishwasher I've owned, since what is more important to me is to sanitize everything-- and a dishwasher can do that better, while saving water, than I could ever do by hand.
Functionality (what could be improved): [1] As far as loading the dishwasher goes, it takes some time, thought, and organizational skills to get as many dishes, pots, etc. as you can in one load. For me, the racks seem too narrow to fit bowls and anything other than flat dishes. I wish the racks had adjustable tines to fit a variety of dish sizes, cups, etc. (my old dishwasher had flexible tines that folded down when needed). [2] The fold-down wine-glass holder is a nice feature but would be better if it were slightly larger in diameter (it's a struggle to get a wine-glass stem in there). [3] Although the control panel has a light to indicate that the dishes are "CLEAN", this light does not stay on; it goes out about 2 minutes after the cycle is complete--so unless you happen to be near the dishwasher within that time frame, you won't ever see the visual indicator that your dishes are "Clean". I was told that this is an energy-saving function of the dishwasher for all the power to turn off when done. This may not be a deal-breaker, but without some kind of indicator (a light, a magnet, etc.), how often have you asked yourself if the dishes are clean or dirty? I have to resort to checking the top rack for signs of residual water. [4] Lastly, I have to agree with the person who said that the bottom rack gets off-track enough times to be annoying.
Overall, I like this dishwasher. It does a good job and is much more attractive than other models. The only reason I would not recommend to a friend is because of the rack design (too narrow), which makes it challenging when loading.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design
Cons: Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

slowly dying at 4 years
on January 5, 2010

This dishwasher has been slowly dying since it turned 2. It still looks great, and was easy to use while it worked. Water sometimes leaked out of the bottom right corner- damaging a spot on my wood floor after all this time. The normal wash cycle stopped working unless you opened and closed the door 6-8 times throughout a wash- so we began using quick wash only. Now all wash options are inoperable after 5 minutes into the cycle. I am extremely disappoined that after owning this for 4 years- I need to start shopping for a new dishwasher.
Pros: easy to use, Style/Design
Cons: Value
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Way worth the money

It doesn't have a latch so it feels weird just shutting it. But with the proper cleaning products it cleans perfect unlike other comments. Use the Liquid dryer agent as well as cleaning packs. Normal washes are 2 hrs. My kitchen and living room are open and I can not hear the macine when it is on just when it is done with a "ringtone". All my appliances are lg and I have had no complaints. Lifes Good especially what I paid for it!!

Excellent dishwasher!

Extremely quiet. Almost silent. Cleans very, very well. No spots. Dries completely! If you follow the suggestions: add rinse agent; use additional rinse cycle - it dries totally. Even on the quick cycle. Was a bit skeptical because of other reviews regarding drying but there is absolutely no problem. Also, the venting concern regarding the damage to wood floors has been corrected. It has a bottom vent but it now vents outward, instead of down, so no problem. It has a lovely chime when done

Quiet, cleans as expected, loads almost anything

The dishwasher performs to expectations. Only one problem, installers did not install due to some wireing issue. Electrician simply attached plugin and installed. Only at that point did I discover that the lower rack was warped or had some flaw that it would not roll in and out but hung up and with a loak of dishes was too heavy for me to lift into place.
The service department shipped a replacement rack so within another ten day to two weeks I was finally able to actually use the washer.
