This is a good safe for the money. Sturdy construction with thick walls and lots of room for valuables or documents. The lid release is a little flimsy but it is intended for fire and water security, not burglary.

Sized right for what I need to protect. Did not give a 5 star because it's new and not time or use tested relative to lock mechanism failures I read about prior to purchasing. If time and use warrants a 5 star, you will hear back from me. Same comment if rating warrants a decrease.

This SentrySafe Fire/Water File is quite solid, heavy, and feels extremely sturdy in overall construction. While I have not had experience with exposure of the safe to water or fire, it appears to seal quite well. My only issue is with the latch handle, which is made of plastic and feels a little cheap. So far it is perfectly functional, but it is not nearly as solid and durable feeling as the rest of the safe. Overall, for the cost, I'm pleased with the purchase.

Good sturdy safe for most of my documents. However, with my documents larger than letter size, like in a folder, I have to place it diagonally. So hanging folders is not an option of storage. More cubic space is better. Another minus 1/2 star is the flimsy plastic release lever. A thief can easily break it trying to force it open when locked.

This is our second Sentry safe for home storage of irreplaceable documents. Great design to accommodate hanging file folders (though a slight increase in width would allow for report covers). Definitely a great value!
