Microwave keeps humming even when it goes off. We had to leave the door open in order to keep it from blowing up. Very disappointing!! Especially since it came recommended by the builder.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We bought this microwave and trim package several months ago. The unit is very nice looking and fits in well with our other high-end appliances. The unit has all the features I was looking for: very large interior, heats the food well, easy to clean and most importantly, easy to figure out how to use for all applications. We have busy personal and work schedules so we microwave many of our meals. We have been very pleased with this unit.
We already have a 48 inch built-in KitchenAid refrigerator which is going strong after 14 years. When my other appliances go down (Bosch, Thermador) I will most likely replace with KitchenAid products.

I bought this microwave to be placed in a built in custom cabinet as part of our kitchen remodel. Please note that the specs for installation without a trim kit are incorrect. The microwave actually larger than the 12 9/16 x 19 5/8 that specs state. I would be sure to have your cabinet maker measure the microwave before building cabinet.

We purchased a new home and all Kitchen-aid appliances for it. All of the appliances have been great except for minor issues with cleaning them. The microwave works just fine. It has all the necessary features. The only down side to it is that the buttons "scuff" very easily. We have not had the unit very long and there are already several buttons and the the open button that are scuffed and discolored and will not clean up. It is in a wall cabinet with the oven so there are really not any other options that would look as good in this space as this unit, but it would definitely be nice if the surface was more durable.
