We bought this to replace our previous KitchenAid microwave that was rusting out. We had limited choices to select from since we use this as a built in. The microwave itself works fine. The button to open the door does not work well. You have to push the button and lift up on the microwave door to open the door. You cannot just push the button and the door open. I had read reviews about this issue and it was valid. The clock display light does not match our other KitchenAid products (its a brighter/lighter blue). But we are getting used to it. We ended up using the nice trim kit that came with our first microwave that is actually stainless steel instead of using the plastic trim kit we purchased to go with this microwave.

I really like the microwave overall. The only thing that has disappointed me is that the plastic on the number panel where you push the buttons is already starting to peel and bubble and we have only had the microwave a month!
Pros: easy to use, Performance, Convenient Features
Cons: peeling plastic on number panel

1st microwave purchased broke/arced/smoked after 1 week.

First microwave started arcing and smoking after 1 week. Evidently the door sensors were faulty. KitchenAid replaced and new one seems to work fine. Time will tell.

We mounted the microwave in a cabinet that was made especially for it at a level for me to easily use it. It is fabulous. I love it. I bought this one because I have a kitchen aid in my other house and it's great, i love having 1200 watt, I didn't want a combination microwave/convection (which I never use) and having the door open to the side rather than down is the best feature.
