This microwave was a replacement for a discontinued model (which was only a year old when it caught fire). This replacement functions well, as you would expect any new microwave to do. However, I do not like how the microwave opens- by pushing a button. At times, this feature does not work and I have to pry the door open with my fingers. Another disappointment for me is that my old microwave had a warming feature but this model does not.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my second kitchenAid microwave in 3 years. The door is now sticking on my new unit which is only 2 months old. I am sure it is only a matter of time and I will have to have it repaired also. Have been very disappointed in all of my kitchenAid products. Should have stuck with Viking

Not Even Five years Old - what happened to good products?

Installed all new appliances in November of 2012 - Appears as though the Magnetron is going out of the microwave already - what happened to quality workmanship?
