Terrible Carafe and Even Worse Customer Service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had this coffee maker for about 3-4 years now. We were initially very happy with it, but over a year ago, the lid to the carafe started giving us trouble. It is constantly falling into the coffee pot, especially when taking the pot out of the machine or when pouring coffee. It is annoying to constantly take out the tongs just to pull the lid out of the hot, scalding coffee in the pot. It is very cheaply made and just does not stay in place as it should on the carafe.
After many months of this, we decided to consider purchasing a replacement carafe; this was back in September of last year. I went onto the KitchenAid website and noticed that many other people had the same issues with their carafe. So I decided to add a review discussing my issue as well. Surprisingly, KitchenAid immediately responded to my review letting me know that they will send me a replacement carafe for free. Great! Or so I thought. Turns out the carafe was on back order. I assumed this was because so many others had the same issue. I decided I would give it a chance and wait a few weeks. Surely it would only be a few weeks to a month, right? Well, I can officially say it has now been over 7 months, and I still have not heard of any replacement carafe being sent to my address. They provided me with an order number, so surely it is still on back order? However, I find this time frame completely unacceptable and indicates to me an appalling lack of customer service. Why should I have to wait 7 months, or quite likely what will end up being a whole year or more to receive a replacement part for a poorly constructed item? Surely they just expect that I will give up and purchase another carafe instead of them having to take care of the issue themselves. Well, I can say with certainty that if this issue is not addressed soon, I will be taking my business elsewhere, and not just to purchase another coffee maker, but for any other appliances I wish to purchase in the future.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great coffee maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, I'm very happy with this coffee maker. Loads of features allowing me to brew my coffee just the way I like it. I especially like the adjustable warmer time. I get up much earlier than my husband and set the warm time at the 4 hour max. It's great to brew our coffee when I get up, and forget about keeping it warm until he's ready for it. The only negative is the having to move the coffee maker to fill the water reservoir - but I can live with that.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Do not purchase this coffee maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Rare to every write a review but this product is worthy so others don't experience similar problems. Purchased first unit that lasted about 4 months, display no longer working. 2nd unit-After 2 months, the filter basket would fly open after or during brew cycle. Returned yet again. Waiting nearly a month for 3rd one, which they stated had shipped. Checked back 7 days later and now they tell me its still processing to ship. Get it together Kitchen Aid, coffee maker is great when it works but this model has too many problems and customer service is horrendous to say the least. Very disappointing and will not purchase another coffee maker made by Kitchen Aid, lesson learned.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
