Unit locks up constantly - only unplugging it helps. Netflix is unusable on this unit.

This unit is unstable. It constantly locks up when changing menus or selecting setup or Netflix. Only powering it off solves the issue. Netflix is completely unusable. Constant video freezes. Have plenty of bandwidth as Netflix works fine on other devices on the same wireless network in the house.
Phillips sent this unit to replace the BDP2100 which required a dongle to use wifi. Good customer service on their part. But this unit is unusable for anything from the web. Seems to play DVDs ok.
I have updated the unit yo the latest software and it hasn't helped.

Absolutely Terrible

I was using the Netflix feature with wireless internet and it worked horribly. I figured it was just because it was running with a wireless connection. So i hardwired it to the modem and it didn't get any better. The whole player freezes up constantly to the point that i have to unplug it. About the only thing it does do decently is play blu rays and even then its only half way decent. All and all if i hadn't gotten this player as a gift i would be furiously demanding my money back. Absolutely terrible
Cons: freezes constantly, horrible internet capabilities, slow response time

I've used this little player for over 3 weeks now and have had no problems. I've played Blu Rays, DVD's, and even home made disc's with no problem.
Pros: small size and price.
Cons: haven't found one yet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We recently rented a new movie and was not able to play it due to a firmware upgrade. No warning- nothing! No usb to complete the task. I don't remember ever reading that a system will not play without having to do this work- I am going back to my DVD device. This was just so irritating.

this is/was my first ever blu-ray player,we bought it because of the wireless streaming and are Very disappointed, watching netflix is nearly impossible due to the skipping, freezing up and playing with sound not matching the program, you had to unplug it to reset it when it froze, also watching a disc or streaming when hitting stop or pause it took way longer then it should to react,i did not review this device before purchase, only did after constant problems and found out we were not the only ones having issues with it.bottom line, you get what you pay for, never again will i purchase a philips product.
Pros: price
Cons: everything else:(

Reminder of why I don't buy Philips products.

Terribly cheap, waste of money. The buttons on the case only work after repeated, forceful pushing, and the remote is absolutely useless. Why the heck isn't there an independent eject button? The dual-function button rarely works and I have to wrestle with the case button to eject discs. The streaming, despite being less than 5-ft from my router, is absolutely terrible, choppy, and lags. Start-up is slow and lengthy. Even just getting it to start a movie is absurdly painful. Now the green light is on, but no signal to the tv and the door won't open at all. I have not disliked a product this much in a long time and would have returned it if I hadn't washed the receipt... I recommend spending the $10 price difference and buying something better.
Cons: just a cheaply made over-priced waste of money, poorly designed remote/button system

Its not good at all. It has trouble connecting to netflix & youtube. Its really slow, takes long to load. When you play a bluray, its really loud. Right, it wont connect to Netflix at all, with no explanation as to why. Tried reloading the wifi connection, still nothing! And the remote, oh man, you have to stand right in front of the bluray, to get it to work! bad remote signal! Only positive thing i can say is it has a nice picture, but that oculd just be my tv.
