Very slow.

I thought I had found the perfect blue ray for my darling girlfriend. I have been bamboozled. This model does work but it is slower than molasses in January. I even sprouted a grey hair while waiting for it to load. My interwebs are definitely fast enough. This model cant keep up. It saddens my heart to have to right a bad review but this piece drives me nuts!
Sincerely,
Rev. R Dave Fox

If you have trouble connecting to the network try this...
on December 27, 2014

I was having trouble connecting to Netflix, YouTube, etc even though it said I was connected to the network. Turns out my "guest" wireless connection was not strong enough or something, even though, again, it said "connected". I had also tried to connect to my "main" wireless (Linksys) connection but could not because my wireless password had zeroes in it, and I had trouble getting the zeroes to display while entering the password. Turns out the remote control keypad "0" key has to be hit twice to select/enter the number zero (and only once for space i.e. "_") even though it lists space then zero on the remote button, if that makes sense. Once I got the password entered correctly for my main wireless connection (instead of the Guest wireless connection), it worked fine.

Cheap Junk. Lasted 4 Months.

Wifi to Netflix was weak from the beginning (even though my Panasonic BluRay worked fine). Major delay between turning it on, and waiting for the tray to open after pushing eject. Just bought the new Hobbit movie, and now the player is keeping it hostage. Tried unplugging it several times. Buttons don't work. Controller doesn't work. Piece of junk - very frustrated and disappointed.
Pros: doesn't require batteries
Cons: poor wifi, poor buttons, bad remote, short lifespan

Worked for about 6 months

In the beginning it worked very well.. We had no ploblems playing DVDs and blue-ray. Even streaming net flicks was not a problem. Soon though we started having problems with the remote and it was difficult to open to insert a disc. When we upgraded the tv, it stopped working all together. No signal and the door will not open. It looks like poor design to me.
Cons: poor construction

A great unit with some extras. I don't use it every day but when I'm in the mood to watch a good movie, whether using a DVD or via VUDU which is one of the special features of this unit. It's always a good experience. The clearity of the picture and the sound quality, (just through my TV), is astonishing. I'd like to get a surround sound system and connect to it to see how much better the sound quality would be.
Thanks Philips, I've been using some of your equipment since I was a child, and it's never been disappointing!
Pros: many extras like vudu youtube wifi., doesn't always connect the wifi as fast

Awful Performance

This Blu-Ray player freezes constantly. Youtube and Netflix videos are near unwatchable due to the locking up of the device. The only fix is to unplug and reload the device. Blu-Rays and DVDs also have issues while playing as the audio does not always sync with the visuals. Pausing the discs will reset the sound, but it happens every few minutes. Overall the player has a problem approximately every twenty minutes and is a collassal hassle.
