Ice Maker

Ice Maker needs constant attention to make ice. Have to reach in and remove stalled ice cubes or it will stop making them. Door water stopped working after about ten years but that may be due to hard water. Otherwise it has been ok. Viewing Youtube videos to locate water issue.

GE gsl25jfxnlb, worked very well for many years. I had to install a thermal resistor to unfrozen the water dispenser, and I had to replaced, after many years the water pump once and the freezer's resistor couple times. Still working. Very pleased with it.

Now I know why previous home owners left this!

Moved into my home in August of 2016. Not sure how old this fridge is but it blows. Upon, moving in, found water line to fridge turned off. Hmmm. Turned on and water dispenser seemed to work ok. Why is ice maker turned off? Let me turn it on. Oh crud, water fill does NOT turn off and water begins to pour out of freezer. Cant even turn ice maker off now. Had to turn water to fridge completely off to keep from flooding kitchen. Moved to back room and brought in my older fridge to use which will fill the ice bin from empty to full in 24 hours. It rocks. Actually gets too cold so had to turn temp down in that fridge. I digress. Now its April 2017 and the GE piece of junk for about two months now has not been that cold in the fridge part. It feels like a portable cooler temp in there and you can smell the food so I know its way too warm. Freezer part still keeps things frozen. Guess I will just wait till it completely dies.

I like the fridge but...

Has been a great fridge, love it. The one and only issue we had was with the water line freezing, keeping water from dispensing from the door. Good news is it's an easy do it yourself fix- minimal cost. I still love the fridge and hope to keep it around for years to come. I did read some of the reviews on here and yes, water line freezing was a pain but I've had refrigerators with major problems like the motor stops working. This is a minor repair and isn't enough for me to say this refrigerator hasn't been excellent, dependable, and a great value for us.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It not only looks great, but is easy to keep looking sharp. There is ample room on both fridge and freezer sides for our needs and everything stays fresh and at the right temp. I would definitely buy this fridge again.

Worth the $$

I'm not sure why the reviews here are at polar opposites. We have enjoyed this fridge, which we bought a little over 2 years ago. It's gorgeous and the right size for the opening in our kitchen, but I do find that the vertical freezer doesn't hold as much as I expected. The modular shelves are great, easy to remove for cleaning and rearrange as needed. No problem with temperature on either side, it gets the job done. What I am bummed about, as another person pointed out, is that the water faucet is extremely slow. Too slow for us, we never use it. The ice situation overall is workable, but I do find I have to go in and bang the ice tray from time to time as ice gets stuck in the intake. Another bummer is that the silver face of the overall unit does scratch. The black sides are fine, but the silver part is prone to scratches so you have to be careful about putting magnets or anything else sharp on that side. overall, I love this fridge and I'm satisfied with the quality for the amount paid.

A great fridge!

This is a great fridge. The shelves are super easy to adjust and clean. I love the internal water filter because it makes really good tasting ice. Plenty of interior space in both the freezer and the fridge. It's quite and maintains its temperature very well. One draw back, the water comes out of the door slowly. It's cold and filtered, you just have to be patient.
