I love the camera, over the past year its got me some money makin' pics. but if you get it too close to something (a flower for example) it wont take the picture. it kinda stutters. it gets pretty annoying.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor build quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Picture quailty has degenerated- Not Happy

I have had the XSi for a little over 2 years now. within 6-7 months of purchase I found focus was becoming softer and softer (using the same 3 lenses I had from the beginning). Another problem I have had since about 1 year ago is overexpsure. Over cast or sunny, all shots are overexposed. I reset the camera to it's factory settings just to see if it was something I was overlooking. Still the same problems continued. I must add I have had the same problem with my Canon A95. And my daughter has the same problem with her Canon.
I have always purchased Canon cameras (going on 30 years now). And I could somewhat accept it if this was happening with a cheaper camera or if hte camera was older. Sadly, because of my experiance with Canon as of late, I don't plan on purchasing another Canon.
Pros: great features for a novice
Cons: over all picture quality gradually gets worse and, setting dial moves far too easily
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor Image Quality

Close up images, particularly macro photos, are not tack sharp as you would expect. When focused via the view finder the image is very sharp, but ends up out of focus on the final RAW or JPEG image.
Pros: Bright LCD, good battery life
Cons: poor image quality at 100%
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Canon builds for the studio- not the field

I owned the XSi for 2 years. Selling off all canon lenses and accessories. Everything is just TOOOO big. Fine for portraiture and weddings. Paparazzi maybe. For tourists, amateur archeologists...people working in the field- this is just unnecessarily large, weighty, and the telephoto lenses in addition to being large and weighty- all extend by the centrifical force of walking. The AOS was a great camera series at a great price point. The EOS series represents an abandonment of an entire marker segment. The 4/3's community has identified a market that Canon once owned. Color management still lags competitors.
Pros: Quick Start-up time, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Missing features/settings, Heavy/Bulky
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Macro Photo

I bought this camera with the main porpouse of taking macro pictures of flowers, unfortunatelly seems imposible to get nitid photos specially with medium or large flowers (2-5 inches), the deep field only can get a maximun of 1.5 inches that is not suffiecient for my work!!!
