Great Camera for a Great Price

The Canon Digital Rebel XSi is a great camera for someone who wants to make the jump to a DSLR. I got my XSi in August of 2009, and wow, i was amazed by it. The image quality was excellent, and the 3.5fps allowed me to shoot in bursts, very helpful given that i do mostly aviation and wildlife photography. I can blow up the images to huge sizes on my computer before is start to see a loss of quality. It is definitely much better than getting a 12mp point-and-shoot, and i am happy that i got it. Instead of getting the kit lens, I only bought the body and used the money to but the EF-S 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS. If you do not think that you will need the kit lens, or you are on a budget, I strongly recommend to only buy the body. The camera was also very fast and responsive, and it started up quickly, which is very useful if you need to catch the action before it is gone. The XSi does weigh more that a point-and-shoot, and at first I was surprised, but you get used to it. It isn't, however, heavy enough that it makes you tired from holding it. However, it does have a few negative aspects, but positive aspects easily overpower the negative ones. The build quality is lacking, and the body is made out of plastic. It would have been better if it was made of the alloy that the 40D,50D, and so on are made of, yet this isn't really a major factor. Overall, the Canon Digital Rebel XSi is an amazing DSLR camera packed with many great features.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor build quality

I am sixty-two and have been interested in SLR photography all of my adult life. I was, however, not willing to invest money in a new camera at my skill level, UNTIL, I researched and purchased my digital EOS Rebel xSI.. Even at a learning curve (0-100) of about 30 thus far, I am extremely happy with what I have been able to capture and I have to give most of the credit to the quality of my Canon. I highly recommend this camera for novices, hobbiests and semi-professionals. At 12MP, you have all of the quality you need unless you are going to make poster prints.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use

Great Camera - ESPECIALLY for the $$$

I've been using my 450D for 2 months now and been impressed with every situation. It's great to be able to go to a crowded, darklit, packed bar or club and just snap away. Low light shots are easy to achieve and, of course, action shots are great every time. As stated before, image quality is a product of the lens as the camera will obtain a great picture every time, limited to the lens' ability. Advice? Get this camera and pick up a Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II prime lens and you'll get some of the sharpest shots you've ever seen! Buy this camera and enjoy!
Oh yeah --- it's 12.2 MP!! Digic III is great Live mode and lcd screen are great 3.5 sec burst mode is faster than I'll ever need Battery lasts forever! even the manual states 500 shots, I think, but I consistently get 700+ - sometimes more - every time... even with the spare off-brand battery
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: no video capabilities

I do a lot of wildlife/nature shots so what I come up against every time I do a shoot requires some good gear. The xsi is a great camera-I have been a Canon user for about 8 years. I was bouncing between the Canon 40 D slr and the xsi and really learned that the Canon xsi is a 40 D junior with it's live feature, the 12 megs and so on and so on. It fires up in a hearbeat and is capable of doing some amazing work. If you use Canon ef lenses then this camera is right for you.even third party lenses will work with this camera. Tons of features that will make even the pros drool with envy-great camera.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
