Right out of the box and batteries charded, my XSi went right to work shooting a wedding. Combined with my 580EX, both on AUTO every exposure was perfect. I opted for the optional battery grip because I have rather large hands, but it still is a very light and easy camera to manage. I find it more camera than I will ever probably need, but it's nice to know the feature is there if I need it.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life

I had been shopping around for a great digital slr for some time trying to decide between the Canon 40 d or possibly this Canon xsi. I didn't want someting that was going to bog me down or get me stuck in a situation that required me to pull out the how to hand book and read meanwhile missing a great shot, The Canon xsi is a great camera for several reasons-number 1 it has great features like live veiw,a menu that covers just about everything you may need in the pro market as well as the point and shoot and best of all it is compact and shoots a staggering 12.2 mega pixels. I am out in the field a lot and just the possibilities alone with all of the features this camera has to offer is overwhelming.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, crisp clear imagesuser friendly
Cons: iso is 1600-3200 would be nice

Cool Camera

I got tired of the lame images my point and shoot camera took, so I decided to buy myself this supposed entry-level SLR. I've never used a SLR camera before... I spent 20 minutes reading the instructions and then started taking pictures using the manual settings.
The pictures were SO MUCH better than anything I've taken with my other ps cameras! What's really exciting is the promise of better pictures as I learn more about using all the various settings.
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'd like to say that I'm a good photographer, but the fact is this camera should take all the credit. If you can frame a shot this camera works double time to make sure it comes out looking like it was taken by a pro! This camera is easy to use regardless of your skill level.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, easy to use
Cons: can't put it down

I am a wildlife/nature photographer who is always out and about and Canon has been my choice for quality gear for 8 years starting with the rebel-a slr camera that requires film. I purchased the Canon XSI last April 2009 and I was looking for a camera that was fast-durable-something that was going to have to be able to handle everything the outdoors could toss it's way and even severe weather. I got the Canon XSI and was already familiar with the layout-now if you have big hands the smaller size body may prove to be a issue but for me the layout with the buttons is great. The body is rather light but whats inside of the body is knock em dead-tighten your boots-lets get ready to take awesome photos software that is going to brighten your photo world 100 fold. The camera is fairly easy to learn and at 12 megapixels is plenty big enough to tackle even the biggest photo jobs. The lcd display at 3 " is great for live view or getting from one setting is also great. Batteries!!!this camera has tons of juice to get the job done over and over again. I can shoot on a good day nearly 500 photos and this means the camera is on for several hours as I travel from scene to scene. I tested the the Canon XSI in harsh conditions with temps below zero(-14) with a wind chill of -30 for several hours.I also had another popular camera with me doing the same test ro see which camera would bog down first in harsh consitions and even tho the cold played havoc on some of the lenses I did find that this Canon XSI walked all over the competitor by a landslide as this camera would conitnue to shoot picture after picture even tho the processor was getting sluggisg but the competitor bogged down and evn starting to produce poor photos. With that said the Can has exceeded what I wanted from a great camera-only issue I have found is... the Camera comes with a 18mm-55mm lens that is great for standard shots as I do use it for mainly landscape but I do reccommend you seriously think about upgrading to a better more versatile lens as this lens will do the job but I have found that the lens is not sealed which if your like me you need to keep bugs and dust out. 1 other issue is that I work alot with a tripod and the I find that I am always having to move the strap away from the corner of the camera-the camera is designed with one of the strap holders to close to the setting wheel which at least in my case gets in the way otherwise Great camera-easy to learn=great quality Fast on response-easy to change settings dial and buttons and is durable.Needs to be to handle todays extreme photos.
Pros: add a pro

I bought this camera to take shots of my daughter at her State Track Meet. I simply put it on program and the shots were totally breathtaking. It stopped the fast track action and pictures were so clear you could see individual strands of hair. The software that comes with it allows you to make your shots even better, no need to purchase other software. I am so glad I purchased it!
Pros: excellent image quality, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: price of lenses
