Great Expectations

After watching the same 19" portable TV for over 25 years, I decided it was time to jump in and take advantage of the latest technology that has made watching television a new experience. I did some research and found the LN46A550 to have great ratings in many catagories and since I've always considered Samsung to be a reliable brand, I took a closer look. Going from one store to another comparing different brands, I still found the 550 to be the one I wanted. It has just as good if not better picture quality, features, and styling than many of the more expensive sets I looked at. Getting the best quality in my budget range was a high priority for me and it met that goal too. I've had my new 550 for just over a month now and watching it has been like seeing many of the programs and movies for the first time. The epic scenery some films and documentaries have was lost on my old set and now unfold in a sharp widescreen image with great color. My expectations have so far been fullfilled.

Picture is great And once we ordered high def from directtvit was even better!! The sound is not so good, but we run it through surround. I love this TV and I LOVE my wife, we now get to watch sports!

Great TV and service

Ive had this tv for about 6 months, the picture is grate and the customer service is even better. My LCD panel went bad, I went to the web site to get a repair ticket, they called me within 3 hrs. and they were out the next day to fix my problem

Sound system is not up to par with picture. Audio sounds 'tinny' no matter what settings are used.
Use of 'grey halftones' in User Manual make it difficult to read.

LN46A550 - Get it

Just purchased the LN46A550 and we love it. Of course we were viewing a 20" tube TV but I have seen and researched a ton of LCDs and we are not disappointed. Sports is great, can see every blade of grass watching golf tournaments.
The PIP is a little disappointing but don't think the sound is that bad contrary to other reviews. What do you expect, some Bang & Olufsen type of sound?
Overall, extremely pleased with the purchase.

I bought his back in Nov of 2008 and love the TV! The only problem I have been having is when I set my favorites on the remote, they seem to disappear the next time I try to access them. Besides that, good TV!

This is the second Samsung TV I have purchased. Their support after the sale has been marvelous. I have bought two printers, Two TVs, Two phones, two cameras. I will continue to buy Samsung because of their superb service and quality compared to other competitive products. HOWEVER. This TV does not have the sound quality as my last one; As a matter of fact, it is cheap. The picture quality with DirectVis so outstanding that it helps to overcome the bad sound. This sound problem was noticed almost immediately after purchase in the spring of 2009. Can anything be done about this now?
