When I first bought this TV back in early June of this year, just wanted to get a bigger screen TV as my 40" 720p Samsung was getting some abuses by my 3-year always drawing something with his Crayola and fingers. But as I was not planning to upgrade to gigantic size TV's in the near future, finally decided that 52" should do the trick.
When finally narrowed down to this model, some people who bought the TV when it first came out reported a rather sporadic turn-off problems. But when I saw the demo at a store, I was sold on the graphics and overall design.
In the early introduction of Samsung's Touch of Color with red accent on the bezel edges, was not particularly thrown off by it unlike some critics as the graphics and 1080p with the-more-the-better 4 HDMI and HDMI-CEC functions were my focus.
To truly appreciate this TV's stunning graphics, just tune into any digital broadcast in 1080i alone and you will see the dramatic differences. When a friend was viewing a Bluray movie, he compared the graphics to those of when people jumped over from VHS tape to DVD - that transition was dramatic and people jumped into DVD right away. As long as you have some forms of 1080p signal feeding into this TV, you will appreciate your purchase and TV.
Sometimes the TV's HDMI-CEC freezes or hangs which not sure if this is the DVD player or Bluray, kind of slow menu navigations from time to time, touch-sensitive menu buttons on the TV are hard to see, and making some insane cracking noises when I turn off other connected devices.
Otherwise, this is one great TV with highly recommended design, graphics, price and work great with other Samsung devices.
I have purchased 4 Samsung TV's in the last 2 years and Why?! They HAVE the Best Picture and Reliability and I will ALWAYS be a Loyal Fan...Thank You SAMSUNG !!!!
Purchased due to Top Rating given by Consumer Reports! Intuitive remote operation. Superb Speakers. Remarkable Picture Quality. Consumers Reports says Samsung got it right!!
I had a 42" Sony LCD and decided that I needed to upgrade. After shopping for months for the right tv and the right deal I decided on the 52" Sharp Aquos Series LCD. I went to the local Circuit City to look at it again and was struck by the Samsung 650 series. I never looked back and I have been happy ever since.
This television is amazing. The picture is wonderful, and as a sports and movie fan, I have been very pleased that there is no motion blur at all.
Sports and Blu-ray movies look amazing, and my family and friends are blown away by this TV playing Planet Earth in Blu-Ray (with a Samsung Blu-Ray player). You cannot do better for the money.
Also, the Samsung Blu-Ray player works in sync with the TV, so you can load a disc, and when it's ready to play, the Blu-Ray player turns the Samsung TV on. It's a great combo.
Design-wise, the red is a classy touch, but not noticeable if you're not looking for it. It's classy but not at all distracting, so don't let that affect your choice to purchase.
I am very happy that I picked a Samsung LCD tv. I was choosing between Sony and Samsung. The Samsung had the best picture. I have watched tv shows and films that are so life like, it seems as though I am standing five feet away from the actors. As if I can reach out and touch them.
Samsung has built an awesome product. They are the leader and everyone else just runs behind them
We shopped around for several months before we saw this TV set up. The picture quality, color and clarity was the very best in the store as well as the best that we had seen. The contrast ratio was well above any other brand. Everyone that sees the TV is amazed at the picture. Movies are better on this TV than going to the theater. I told a friend about this set and she purchased the same one the next day. This truly is the very best TV taht we ahve ever purchased, or seen.
