5 cup black coffee maker

I bought this coffee maker for my apt since it's usually just me. I followed through with all the instructions, so far so good. The next day I made coffee, and later found that it had dripped all over the counter. I washed it and checked for cracks and didn't see anything. I tried it again two more times after that and still found coffee under the machine and counter. Apparently the drip is coming from the metal ring on the carafe.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This coffee maker has 48 reviews of which 12 are 2 of 5 stars and 19 are only 1 star! I simply does not work and should be taken off the market. It turns the water to steam which makes the kitchen feel like a sauna and virtually no water or steam goes through the filter to the pot. It simply does not make a pot of coffee. I expected more from a Black and Decker product.

Very bad taste

Every cup tastes like a toxic mix between coffee and melted plastic. No matter what I do whether it be run plain water through, a vinegar/water mixture, baking soda/water mixture, or simply 20 coffee brews to date, the taste of toxic plastic just won’t go away. I’m returning it, hope I can get a refund…

Poor replacement for the "smart brew"

Burns coffee; spills when pouring; no reusable filter basket. I loved the "smart brew" ... this one is headed for the trash.

Lots of problems with this coffeemaker!

I wanted a black coffeemaker to replace my 5 year old Mr. Coffee white coffeemaker-because of the unavoidable coffee stains, not the functionality of my old Mr. Cofee. I'm returning this one, and keeping my old Mr. Coffee.
This 5 cup B&D coffeemaker has the following design flaws- 1. Carafe does not pour smoothly-drips. 2. Water fill window is very difficult to read. 3. Sharp pieces on back top where hinges are for cover are uncomfortable. 4. The design does not prevent coffee from continuing to drain when the carafe is removed, unlike several other brands.

The product is great HOWEVER!!!!

The coffee maker was exactly what I wanted and made wonderful coffee. One draw back is no automatic shut off when you would like a bit of coffee before it has completely brewed. Much to my dismay the coffee pot lasted a mere 5 months. October the plastic hinge for the lid broke and glue did not work. March the coffee pot died.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not bad, but not great

I bought this product because I don't have much room in my kitchen and I wanted a basic, no-fuss coffeemaker. That's just what I got. It works fairly well, but my biggest complaint is that this coffeemaker doesn't have a pause-and-serve option. It's my fault for not realizing it before purchasing, but in this day and age I feel that even a basic coffeemaker should offer this feature.
