Good product, however...

The features on this camera are brilliant, however there is one small thing I am really dissappointed in... the recording mode has a maximum setting of 640x480 but only at 20 fps... I don' understand why canon would do this because it is such a wonderful product, and even the older models could record at 30 fps with that resoultion setting. I'm sure it could be solved with a firmware update so PLEASE Canon, do something about it...
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, durable

Very Good Purchase

I purchased a PowerShot A590 IS about 3 months ago and have used it at least 4 or 5 times a week. Before I made my purchase I did a lot of shopping for the camera that I felt would feel my needs. This one is perfect for me. It's easy to use, has all of the functions and features that I need and even looks good. I am still excited about the battery life it has using rechargable batteries.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: didn't find any

I love my camera!

I've had my camera for a month now, and I love it. The size and shape are perfect -- it feels good in my hands. The 4X zoom is all I really need. One of my favorite things is the viewfinder. My last camera didn't have one, and in bright light the display washed out, so I took pictures just guessing. It's much easier to just look through the viewfinder.

Best in Class

This was my first Digi Cam, and I did a lot of research before settling on this one. And I am glad I didnt make a wrong choice.
The picture quality was crisp and clear, and actually surpassed my expectations in terms of shooting in low lighting conditions. You get quality pictures even without adjusting manual settings, as the auto mode works perfectly almost every time. Also, the image stabiliser and motion detection features work well, as I couldnt get a blurry image even if I shook the camera while taking pictures.
Simply put, it is an excellent choice whether you are an expert photographer or a beginner.
The only downside probably is the lack of a rechargeable Li-ion battery, and a slightly bulky body compared to other models, but I guess thats the proce you have to pay for the extra features.

Excellent camera

Studied all the digital cameras and their prices until I came upon the 590. Just what I wanted. Took it with me to Cape Cod and made video shots on a whale watch. Great videos. Have taken over 400 pictures and the quality is great. I LIKE IT.
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
Cons: Short battery life, alkaline batteries ok. rechargables it don't like

Exceeds my expectations

My 10 yr old 1MB digital was falling apart and it was time for a replacement. These reviews helped me through my one week search for the best fit for me. Thank you to each person that took the time to write. Not only is the A590 IS an incredible buy, but the software that comes with it has helped me create some movies that will be permanent memories. I spliced 16 mm film into home movies many years ago, but this is so much easier and now the "tape" will never come unglued.
I've only used a third of the 19 camera settings so far, and each has performed better than expected. I use NiMH rechargable batteries and have had zero problems with them - in fact they last longer in the A590 IS than they did in my former digital.
This was a great choice and since I'm in my 70's, this may be my last camera. I'm happy!

Simple to use

I don't take many pictures, and this is only the 2nd digital camera I have purchased, as photographer I am not. But, with this camera, it is so easy to use, and the quality I think is great. So, it allows a beginner like me to go out and take some quality photos. Now, I take pictures quite a bit because I do not feel intimidated. Very user friendly in my opinion. Thank you.
