Just a good camera

I wanted a good digital camera to take pictures of my new twin grand kids & to capture the moments. I went with this Cannon because
#1) price
#2) high enough mega pixels (8.0)
#3) Cannon is a good name brand & I use to own 35mm Cannon camera equipment.
#4) lots of picture taking options.
#5) simple to use.
When I first got my camera for Christmas I ran the batteries down because I was playing with it so much. Now that I am familiar with 50% of the options and settings. There is plenty of bells & whistles to play with, more that you will ever need. But the final test is this camera takes good quality pictures that you will be proud to show off to your family & friends.

My first digital camera

Have used the camera only twice since the purchase and haven't delved into the many features that it offers, but am extremely happy with the ease of taking pictures and the great quality of the photos. The viewfinder is an asset for taking pictures outside on a sunny day.
The quality of the camera is what I expected from a Canon product--excellent. My Cannon 35mm has served me well (and still is) for the past 26 years and I am confident that this digatal will give the same good sevice.

Good price, good value!

The Canon Powershot A590is is a good camera, and has very good image quality, and pretty good macro pictures as well as a nice 4x optical zoom. But the low-light performance leaves something to be desired, because at above 800 ISO the pictures are very noisy, and I usually don't use that high of ISO unless absolutely necessary. But the pros far outweigh the cons. It is made of plastic, that some people would say is weak, but I like it, it makes it pretty light, but then again it's not as portable because it has a grip, but I like the grip, some might now though. I have just started printing my images and they come out wonderfully, even with larger prints. This camera is starting to age but I would still suggest it to anyone looking for a cheap camera that can do a lot. I like using this camera, and I have shot over 6000 images in only a few months. It's a wonderful camera for a very good price, I would recommend it without hesitation.

First digital camera

After reading reviews of many cameras, I purchased the A590IS because it seemed easy to operate. I was very satisfied with the owner's manual, software and accessories that came with the camera. I have slowly started to use different functions and not jumped into it all at once. The camera helps me take pictures and the TV is a good place to review them. The only suggestion I have is that the LCD needs to be a little brighter. And, yes I have recommended this and other Canon cameras to friends.

Best value ever!

I purchased this camera befor going to Cancun. My wife and I have never really owned a decent camera and the price was right on this. After reading some reviews, I decided to purchase. I am SO happy that I did! This is the best camra I have ever used, and the picutures I took with it rival or beat pictures from friends and family that were taken with cameras costing hundreds of dollars more. With a couple of 2500 ma rechargable batteries, this thing lasted for hundreds of pictures taken over 4 days along with about 10 minutes of video, all fitting nicely with room to spare on a 4GB SD card I purchased for about $10.00. I went back online to purchase another one of these for my sister who is looking for a camera and much to my dismay, it see that it has been discontinued! PLEASE bring this camera back! I'll buy several! Oh, and the Video quality and sound quality of this camera is superior as well. This is a huge bonus as I was not counting on such high quality video for such a low-priced camera.

IT TOOK ME ALMOST 3 YEARS TO SELECT A DIGITAL CAMERA. I RESEARCHED SEVERAL DIGITAL CAMERAS BY DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS. AFTER A REVIEW OF THE A590 IS BY CONSUMER REPORTS, I MADE A DECISION. THIS CAMERA WAS MADE FOR A PERSON WHO WANTS THINGS SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT WITH GREAT RESULTS.

I am amazed everytime I use it by new features I find on this product. I think I am sold on Canon products and would recommend this camera to anyone.

Love My Camera

This camera is easy to use, takes beautiful clear pictures and is not so small that you can't find it when you want to take a picture. It's been a great camera for family photos, my son's first 2 years of life and any other occasions that have come up. I would definitely consider another canon after this one is gone!
