Great camera for its price

I bought this camera in July 2008 as a quick, inexpensive replacement for my Nikon Coolpix. I absolutely love, love the fact that it takes wide angle shots and leaves room for creativity in the manual, AV and TV settings. I really have never cared for the auto function in digital cameras-- which produces the clearest images in this model, but the lighting (with or without flash) tends to make the images appear dull. I still can't figure out if the image stabilization turns off when in the creative settings. I shoot in the creative settings so that I can adjust lighting, white balance, color options etc. but the images tend to be blurrier than when in the Auto setting unless you can be completely still. When using high ISOs (800+) or printing larger prints, the images tend to have more noise than I prefer. BUT, for the price this is an excellent camera that is usually clear enough to render decent 4 x 6 prints.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought camera because of the reports by Consumer Reports. Like pretty much everything about it EXCEPT, it has an absolutely terrible battery life. Took 16 pics in an hour & a half period & it shut down. An hour later I tested the batteries & they tested in the good range but couldn't take any more pics that night.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just bought this because of the image stabilization. I have used an A540 for a couple of years and will continue to use it also. The A590 has a next generation processor, REAL stabilization and easier controls but I do miss the "My Camera" feature. The price/value ratio is unprecidented.
Pros: image stabilization, ease of use, great pictures
Cons: slow flash recycle times
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not sure why people are saying that this camera does not have a long battery life as I have open this camera on christmas day as it was a present and took about 200 photos before the batteries that came with it went dead. I just bought the high power lithum and I am sure that they will last even longer. I wanted one of the more expensive camera's but I am very very very happy with this one. oh and the digital zoom on this camera is great I am having a great time learning the features of this camera. The person that gave it to me wants it back!!!!!! not happening
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

The manual exposure settings plus the ability to switch between evalutive metering and spot metering at this price is a huge thing.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable, manual exposure settings, choice of metering
Cons: Dim LCD, the autofocus is a little soft at times
