The title says it all....Great Value.
I particularly like the shape. It makes it easy to hold and use.
Many cameras today are almost too small to use with comfort. Great pics also.

I spent about a month reviewing cameras and reviews before choosing the A590 IS. It wasn't an easy task with all the fine products on the market. Now that I've had and used it for over two months I feel that my choice was the correct one. The more I use and learn about it, the more amazed and pleased I become.

Great little camerea

I have only had the Power Shot A590IS for about two months. However, I find it it is a joy to use. The quality of the photos that it produces are exceptional. It will do more than I need for most applications. However, I am happy to have the extra capabilities even thought I may not always need them. Yes, it has a some what complex operational system. I have not had any serious problems learning to operate all of it many features. I think you would be happy with its performance.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

best bang for the buck

reallt impressed with quality pictures user friendly for the price easy enough for my 6and 7 year oll granddaughters to pick up and use but with quality photos to save in scrap book. Download to computer easy and a breeze software very user friendly sorting and printing a whiz. i have owned 4 cameras all Canon and would have it no other way I am sold for sure and if asked by a friend what to buy.........Canon of course

Excellent photos except in inadequate light, then a lot of noise in photos. However, runs on two 2-AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries (you have batteries, your camera doesn't have to be recharged), a view finder so you can use the camera without having to use the power draining LCD (which is nice and large). Try using the different modes or the AUTO for most shots. Because it is 8 megapixels, the 4x OPTICAL zoom doesn't need to be 10 or 12x. Also the face detection technology helps the camera set the light for faces, not backgrounds. Does amazing video. I also have a Canon 2S IS.

This camera gives you alot of bang for the buck. If you just want to point and shoot,this camera can do it well. If your want to get into fancier shooting,the A590 can get you there. Battery life is short,so you definitely need rechargeable ones or maybe litheium.

This camera does everything FAST and EASILY.
I take photos for work and 500 a week is not unusual.
This camera is good on batteries, takes several shots in a row and has many features that turns on shutterbugs!
The price can't be beat either. I carry it ready to shoot all day long. It focuses fast and this poor thing takes a beating.

I'm in LOVE with this camera!

I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with this camera. It's so easy and convenient to operate, very lightweight, and fits perfectly in the hand. The large display and settings/features are amazing. I carry it with me all the time.
I'm fairly new at using digital cameras; I've only been using them for 4 years or so, and I feel this camera is a perfect selection for a new user. I've experimented with taking photos and video while riding in a moving vehicle on a bumpy road. Even while holding the camera with one hand, the pictures and video were amazingly crisp, clear, and no blurring. Filming in low light settings was equally impressive.
I have only one *minor* suggestion to improve this camera - the microphone could be moved slightly to the left, as when I'm holding the camera with my right hand, my thumb completely covers the microphone opening. Other than that, this camera is perfect. I'm completely in love with this camera!
