Almost Perfect

I have owned many digiatl cameras and checked out a lot before deciding on this one. I decided I had to have a view finder, AA batteries and SD card. And the price was a good value. I like how it has up-down and left-right bars instead of a a whole circle. I never liked those. There are only two things I don't like. One is the card being in the same compartment as the batteries. But that is pretty standard. I really dislike the fact that I can only imprint the date automatically on a small 1600 x pixel photo. What's up with that. I take a lot of headstone photos and like the date on them.
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, view finder needed in bright sunlight thanks
Cons: Missing features/settings, can't imprint date on all sizes of photos

I think one of my favorite features is the image stabilization. I Love taken night shots, mood shots and available light shots...this camera allows me to do it all.

It was worth our trip

I really liked my camera. It was worth the time I spent researching it. I was looking for a camera that would be good and worth it for our trip to Ethiopia. If you are looking for something that is an upgrade from a camera phone don't get this. a590 has a lot of controls that can teach you on using a camera and even if you are ready for advancements this will be good. It is not the sleekest pocket friendly camera if your just looking for style. But it is probably the best camera you can get for its price!!!

Good looking pics, but...

Have had this camera for two years and all the photos I've taken look great but battery life is worthless especially rechargables. Energizer Ultimate Lithiums work best. Wont run out of juice in one week of use much less a day.

I purchased my camera after my last one was stolen. I already knew I wanted a canon. I love taking pictures. Even though I don't use all of the features, I'm still glad they are available. With the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries, this camera goes forever. I even like the fact that I can record video. The one thing I don't like is the amount of blurry pictures I have to delete, but I know it's probably just the operater.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

Great Pictures
on June 3, 2010

This is my first digital camera. I am not a camera pro by any means (what's an aperture?) yet this little camera has allowed me to photograph tiny flowers less then 1/4 inch in beautiful detail. I was also able to go outside on New Years and get a wonderful picture of the moon, stars and a near by planet. I did have to bring the camera in and warm it up several times. And I got a picture of my horses sliding to a stop in the snow with steam and snow flying! These pictures look like something from N.G. Mag. and I can't believe I took them. It is simple to load them on to my computer and share. I've had it for a year and I love it. My only complaint is having to wait so long before I can take another shot but there might be a setting for that.
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, easy to hold, easy to see the buttons
Cons: Short battery life
