Routinely Malfunctions

I have practically had nothing but trouble from this phone since I purchased it. It randomly cuts itself off (without warning), the screen malfunctions (sometimes looks like "snow" on a TV set), frequently misses calls (and just send callers straight to voice mail), and I often have to the call the same person three or more times before the ineffectual speaker/mic will allow them to hear me. Evidently this phone was just badly engineered--it's never been damaged (i.e. water damaged or dropped)...it just appears to be badly engineered/manufactured. Given all its inherent problems, I believe it should never have been offered for sale.
Pros: Realistic color, nicely designed backlit keys/qwerty keyboard
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, routinely malfunctions, randomly powers-off, screen sometimes displays "snow"/static, mic/speaker intermittently inoperative
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This phone constantly turns itself off at the most inopportune times such as in the middle of a call or while sending a text.

Great little phone!
on September 1, 2012

I have had many phones over the years ranging from regular, physical button phones to touch screen. The Samsung Evergreen is definitely one of my favorites. I love how it has physical buttons and a slide out keyboard. The sliding mechanism feels very sturdy and it has a smooth sliding motion. It has built-in speakers, which I like, but they could be better quality. The volume is not as great as I would like it to be. When the phone rings, it starts out really low and then automatically adjusts the volume to what I have it set to on the phone. When I receive a text message, the alert tone sounds muffled a little bit. Ever call that I have placed and received has stayed connected the entire time, which I am very happy with. It has a slot for a microSD card. Text messaging is faster and easier on this phone than my Samsung Solstice 2 . When taking pictures, I like that the camera shutter sound is louder. While there are some features on this device that I would change, all in all, I am very satisfied with this product and I recommend it to others looking for a small, reliable, quick messaging phone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Lightweight, physical buttons
I would recommend this to a friend!

Do NOT buy this phone, period. This phone works well for a month, then it starts randomly shutting off, losing connectivity with the address book (I hope you can remember all of your friend's numbers), and not being able to access text messaging.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, random power off, can't connect to address book
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This product has a major flaw!

This product was great looks great is a great idea and being eco friendly. However, then once I brought it home I found out you can't add a mp3 as a message tone. Honestly that is a major flaw for me and I can't figure out why Samsung would not allow you to do that especially if you can for a ringtone? That alone would cause myself to not purchase a Samsung phone because if I'm spending this kind of money on phones I want the most features I can get and this phone lacks a major one for myself. Sorry Samsung I would have really loved this phone if it wasn't for that!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, no message tones!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I wish I had known...

At first glance, this is a great little phone. The battery life is great, and for whatever reason, I seemed to get a better reach of service with it than with my old phone. However, I have been very unsatisfied with this phone since I got it. It is constantly shutting itself off. Sometimes, when it does this, it comes back on without accessibility to the address book. I then have to restart the phone again on my own to be able to send text messages or look up numbers. When it restarts on its own, it takes two or three minutes after it turns on to be able to even go into the messages folder and the address book. Overall, very frustrating.
Pros: good battery life
Cons: Did not meet expectations, restarts on its own
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A Pain in the Neck!
on August 31, 2011

I bought this phone because I previously had a Samsung phone that I liked a lot, and because of the recycled content. I have been VERY disappointed with this phone.
I like that the Evergreen has a pull-out Qwerty keyboard, making texting much easier than the multiple-clicking that I used to have to do. Other than that, I have not been overly pleased. The most annoying feature is that the phone randomly turns off for no reason at all. The battery life and reception are both worse than my old Samsung, and I have not used a data plan on either phone. The Evergreen's screen shut-off settings do not have enough variation; it is either so fast as to be annoying, or so long that I'm afraid I will butt-dial. Notices about the same missed calls keep popping up again and again for days, even when I have called the person back and exited the notice many times. The only way to truly get rid of the notices is to delete all the missed calls.
Now, to top it off, my phone has decided to show "Initializing..." every time I try to access Messaging, then boot me back out to the previous menu. I would like to reset the phone, but it won't let me without setting a password. It is annoying enough to have to click 3 buttons every time I want to turn the screen on. I do not want to add another 4-8 clicks in order to do what I want to on my phone. I REALLY wish I had read more reviews before buying this stupid phone. I can't wait for my contract to be up so I can get away from this daily irritation.
Pros: qwerty keyboard
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
