BD-Live 2.0...What/How/Where???

Excellent player, yes it loads Sloooooow, but as an earlier review said, it's worth it. Amazon has the screaming deal right now (buy 4 Blu-Ray DVD's from a select list and get $100 off, so net cost including the BD's was $174 with free shipping). Hooked it up to my wireless router and was able to download the latest firmware upgrade effortlessly through the set-up menu. Currently using 1080i resolution with my 720p 50" Panasonic plasma...seems fine; great picture, audio, etc. Kudo's to the manual for easily explaining the different settings and what they mean so that I can select the best for my configuration. So now I'm all intrigued about the BD-Live 2.0 but can't find any information anywhere as to what exactly it is and how I utilize/access. Says I need at least a 1GB thumb drive but that's about it. Any info would be appreciated.

"I purchased a BP-1500 after a lot of time reviewing other models in a similar price range in September. I have been very happy with my unit to date.
I was disappointed that the latest firmware update, 2.0, did not support Netflix as does the generation 5 players.. I do not believe this is a hardware issue with the current 1500, merely a firmware push to support Netflix.
I am hoping Samsung provides the firmware upgrade as the player is easy to upgrade and would make me feel better about the purchase. This would be a significant customer satisfaction enhancer and affect "would recommend" criteria to a friend.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Took some time to review and research other brands and options before purchased this one as there still are a lot of researches to be done before making this purchase.
Unless you want to make this player a future-proof with DTS MA and/or Dolby TrueHD receivers to enjoy 7.1 channels, now that Samsung has released BD-Live firmware update, you may have to wait some time for the titles with DTS MA/Dolby TrueHD with 7.1 audio as there are none as of date if my research is correct.
Therefore, if you want to enjoy the great pictures with better sound, this player will do just fine (as long as you have 1080p TV). As I now start buying Bluray titles to tailor to my tastes, some old titles may not have great pictures but new titles will blow you away with stunning graphics.
This player is hooked up to a TV via HDMI but the audio is fed into my home theater unit via optical cable but still I enjoy some great sound in uncompressed PCM audio. Still not clear on the difference between different audio options available under menu but since I will not be upgrading my HTiB to a 7.1 DTS MA/Dolby TrueHD receiver anytime soon, this was a great addition for me.
Some critics have argued that slow loading time and video jitters visible on some scenes/titles but overall great player with high compatible and easy to use my other Samsung devices. My wife was not so enthusiastic about me buying this player but when I first turned it on and put in the Batman Begins, she was amazed at the graphics..

My Samsung blue ray player is one of the best electronic hardware I've bought in a long time! You can upgrade if you need to!! Its very easy to operate. Its just great and I would recommend it to everyone!!

I purchased the BD-P1500 with a 50" Samsung DLP HDTV and couldn't be happier. The Blu-ray player has had it's firmware updated twice since I purchased it adding BD-Live capability and other performance enhancements. It's great that Samsung sends free updates to the player and I hope they continue that process. This is the best deal for your money in terms of getting a Blu-Ray player today. Great picture, great sound, and an awesome design that perfectly matches their TV designs.
Definitely would (and already have) recommend to friends/family.

Great Picture/Upconvert, Fantastic Sound

I returned my Sony BDP-S350 for the Samsung BD-1500 and I could not have made a better choice! The Sony's sound quality was lacking(Had to turn my home theater system all the way up to hear it with optic input).
This system has the most bang for the buck. It works perfectly with my Samsung TV (HPT4254X) and Samsung sound system (HT-TZ515T). The picture is what I would call standard among all Blu-Ray players (Which is incredible since Samsung was not one of the original makers of Blu-Ray).
The menu is easy, but slight changes could be made to improve it. But thats the same with any Samsung product.
The sound is extremely pure. I could not ask for better.
There's not much more I could tell you about the system. Everything works as planned and performs exceptionally. This system has made improvements where other systems lacked.
As I've stated before in previous reviews, I would only recommend you use Samsung products with other Samsung products. These pieces are made to function together as one. If you're going to buy one, buy all. Its completely worth it!

Great cost-effective BluRay player

I paired the BD-P1500 with a Samsung LN46A650, and have to say that this is a well-matched pair. Stunning picture quality from BluRay media, excellent quality from DVD media. Compared to other players that I looked at, the DVD upconversion is seamless, well-rendered, shows great dynamic range and no interpolation artefacts - and I'm running this combo in full 1080p mode.
Highly recommended player, great price point. I already pointed a friend who is in the market for a BluRay player towards this unit.
