Very good, just one problem

I recieved my BD-P1500 for christmas and was very excited to get it hooked up to my 52 inch 1080p plasma. I am very happy with the picture with blue ray, the regular DVDs are also very crisp and the sound is great. Except for one thing that becomes very disturbing, the sound seems to skip every once in a while. At first I thought it was the DVD but it seems to do it with everything I play. I have not downloaded anything so I don't know if this can be fixed simply with an upgrade. If it weren't for the sound problem this would be the perfect Blue Ray player.

Solid player-- remember to upgrade firmware!

I've had this player for about 15 months and overall I'm very happy with it. I've run into some discs that wouldn't play, but by upgrading the firmware it's always fixed the play problems. I download the firmware from this site and used the a USB drive and the USB port on the back of the player.
It's slow to load discs, but it doesn't effect the amazing image quality! I'm thinking about buying a new Samsung player that can stream Netflix and Pandora

Worked well right out of the box, but start up is very slow. The picture especially on 1080p is great. It can connect to a network and download updates and content which is pretty cool. However, just after the warranty expired it developed playback problems and needs to be "reset" after each power cycle.

Great Entry Level Blu-ray Player

I have been using for almost two years without issue. Works great on 1080p Blu-ray discs, and up converts my DVDs very well. I check every two months for firmware upgrades, and recommend you do so as well. I do not like the remote design or the location of the buttons on the front, the tray gets in the way. Othere than that, I enjoy my movies regularly, on a large wide screen tv.

I have had this product for over a year now, and have had no issues with it. I received it as a gift last christmas, and have since upgraded my tv (sony bravia), and my home theater system (samsung ht-as730st). All of the components play nicely together, and the home theater matches the player very well. Discs take a bit long to load, and the internal mechanisms of the bluray player are a bit noisy, but for the reasonable price, it is definitely a good quality product.

I only had the unit for four months and it's already starting to head south. I had a PS3 in one room and I didn't see the point of buying another PS3. I purchased this blu-ray in September and I can't get through an entire movie without it stopping. I thought it may be the disc, but each disc that will not play in my Samsung player, plays in my blu-ray player. I was considering a Samsung LED, but I am a little leary about doing so now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fairly Reliable entry-level Blu-ray player.

I bought this blu-ray player when it was relatively new on the scene. Pretty reliable, but not compared older DVD players. Every once in a while it will not play discs and then later play them as if there was no problem. Udgrading the firmware is a precarious process. I used the USB method and the first time I tried it, the process got hung-up about halfway through. I thought I had ruined it, but was somehow able to do a system restore. I did, later, get the firmware to update and it's been relatively stable since then. Read time is slow compared to what most folks would be used to with DVD players. Overall, I'm still happy with video quality and audio.
