I bought this product mainly for the fact that it played all-region DVDs. It never seemed to work that well, would have problems loading even region 1 or region 0 dvds. Then, after about a year the laser just stopped working. It was past its warranty date so I couldn't do anything about it. Very frustrating. I would not recommend this particular product to anyone. From a consumer electronics message board I saw that others have had this same problem and that once the laser is gone it's not worth having it repaired, better off to buy a new one. The new one I buy will not be a Phillips brand, that is for sure!
Pros: inexpensive
Cons: laser stopped working after about a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
