Super Clean!

I chose this washer-dryer unit to maximize space in a small laundry room, and I'm so glad I chose GE. I love the features on the washer, including the tap-cold, which conserves energy. It's easy to use, gets my laundry super clean and super soft, and fits a good amount of laundry in for a space-saving unit. Great buy for the money!

So Far a Great Purchase
on September 28, 2013

I have had this unit for two days and have washed and dried numerous loads. So far, I am very pleased with the size and features. It is as large as the side by side washer and dryer that I replaced. It cleans well and handled a king size set of sheets with no problem! My only complaint is the unit was delivered 5 days later than the date the web site indicated it would be delivered.

RECEIVED THE PRODUCT AND I'M HAPPY WITH IT. THE LARGE CAPACITY IN THE DRYER AND WASHER ARE OF BIG HELP. THE STAINLESS STEEL TUB LOOKS GREAT. AND THE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY PUT INTO THIS MACHINE IS REALLY GREAT.

So glad I chose this unit! GE-GTUN27EMWW
on April 30, 2014

After months of researching the available unitized systems and reading all the comments, I chose this unit (GE-GTUN27EMWW). The dimensions of the area built for it are 41 inches deep and 34.5 inches wide. This is plenty of area for this unit with extra room for easy access to the water shut-off valve. Since the area was complete before I chose the unit, I ended up putting the plumbing on the wrong side. When looking at the front, the water hook-ups on the unit are in the back on the right side. My water valves are on the left side but the hoses are plenty long enough to reach. I have 6 inches of dead space behind the unit to give the dryer vent enough room to go through a wall on the right. You only need a dryer outlet for this as both washer and dryer are powered by the same cord. This unit comes assembled so make sure the doorways are wide enough. I had to widen the RO of the bathroom doorway to get the unit in. It was a kitchen ornament for a few days....ooops.
The washer sounds are weird if you are used to the old-type machines. Don't panic, the clicking and pauses are normal. The water sound in the drum is also normal. The unit uses a liquid ring to keep it balanced so, no, there isn't old water trapped in it like I thought at first. I am very happy with my choice. It is a nice-looking unit, it runs quietly, and does a great job. I love the dial selections and placement, (bottom of dryer instead of way up top) although I set it once and now just hit the start button for the washer. You may be surprised at the capacity. I forewarned my son about how this unit will be different from our set in the basement and that the load must be limited. There was no need for that, this unit holds as much if not more than our regular-sized set. I love the dryer and have only lost 1 button but I wish there was something that held the door open. I leveled the unit but the natural sway of the door puts it right above my head when I am taking the clothes out of the washer. Watch your head! My clothes come out wrinkle-free and dried nicely using the timed dry set at 45-50 minutes. I haven't tried the rest of the settings available yet. I use regular detergent only. The unit has places for bleach and fabric softener if you use those. The lint trap for the dryer is the easiest to clean as I have ever seen. I don't even have to take the screen out. I just scoop the lint out with my hand which prevents lint dust from flying all over the bathroom.
So glad I ditched the front loaders and got this unit. :)

Spacesaver

I purchased the unitizer on April 15 2014. After installation I loaded the washer and found I could not lift the lid to see the motion inside. It locks and I could not see if the amount of detergent was adequate or wether the water level was adequate.
As for the dryer it has no automatic buzzer to alert you to when the clothes are dry. It also has a loud hum that is annoying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does a good job of cleaning

I just can't get past the sound of the short agitation. Clothes come out clean, but it sounds like the agitator is barely moving. As soon as you lift the lid, the agitation stops, so there is no way to see if it's actually moving the clothes. Plus, the lid locks during some parts of the cycle, and you can not re-arrange, or even look in the basket. I'm older, and set in my ways...so this probably wouldn't be a problem for younger people, but it is for me.

Only thing that I don't like is that the dryer does not have a signal when done. It also does not have a light in the dryer.

Needs a bell

It is very difficult to know when the cycle is finished. If another brand had been the same size and had signal bell, I would have chosen it.
