We bought our washer and dryer over 2 months ago. We loved the selection as we did not want all the bells and whistles. We just wanted a basic model to wash and dry our clothes, bedding and anything else we needed to clean.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bad experience.

9 days after I bought this washer it broke down. The repairman who came a few days needed to order a part and the soonest appointment was 7 days later. A different repairman came and literally took the machine apart. He put it back together, declined to take the defective parts with him because he said he might accidentally use them on another job. He did a partial wash and it seemed ok. Later when I did a load, it turned out the basket was unbalanced and was scraping the rim. There were pieced of plastic in my laundry. Also the noise was so loud my next door neighbor came over to see what was causing such a racket.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

concerned about the balance

This Hotpoint replaced a smaller sized Hotpoint I had over 15 years. (drain pump gave out) I'm having trouble adjusting the balance on it. I noticed you aren't supposed to wrap your larger items around the agitator, so I'm not sure what to do next, afraid there's a broken spring. I've had it only a week. I have a year's warranty, so I will definitely take advantage of it if I can't stop the "dancing". It doesn't continue throughout the wring cycle, so maybe I just need to check the balance front, back, sides again. Other than that, this machine is so quiet I'm not even certain it's working compared to my other Hotpoint! (It is, clothes are wrung out, no problems there).

Terrible: I Hate These New Machines!

It will only wash in cold water, whatever setting it is in. I have to turn the cold water off at the hookup to get a hot wash. Not everything gets clean in cold water. The "gentle" wash tears clothes up. If the water sits in the machine too long, the soap/water will all drain out. I haven't figured out how to soak anything so far. I have to spin each wash out twice because the water does not drain out well and clothes are too wet/heavy to put in the dryer. Who designs these machines!?? NOT A WOMAN!

I would not buy this Hotpoint washer ever again.... It does not clean as well as my old washer that was 14 years old.
